Infection

Infection is a manga that seems to be promising at the beginning, with all the survival, horror elements there, but then, after a certain point, it drops down drastically, changing from horror to something that has no pressure at all. It's quite a let down as it seemed quite promising with the idea of infection but then it seemed like they don't have any more ideas to write about.
Something that is worth highlining is that it could be good for people who like echi stuff, but only that, because they ruined the horror element of the story. There could be some part that might be a BIT of horror but only that.
The main character development its a typical one of noobie survivor who has no idea of surviving and then suddenly became an ace that becomes sonic and start rescuing others.

The art it's ok, not bad... Everything else is though.

The characters: They suck. Can't even remember their names.
The plot: If you have read anything zombie related then you know the jizz. Just picture it with: no stakes and a ecchi scene every other panel and you got it.. Actually just picture Highschool of the dead.. But sadly no Hirano.. So not as fun :(.

How come the zambis have eye pupils when they only have worms swimming in their eye sockets? is there a black worm swimming in the middle of each socket? of each zambi? It fucking sucks.

It's not HOTD but it's pretty solid. You still have typical idealistic MC, a betrayal type person, super OP dude, convenient character connection, or how smooth things went, you also have the usual 'a god-like' character that can moves wherever they want or know what's happening in the background. They also played with politics and science, which isn't bad. Some people thinks it's bad some will think it's good.

But I feel like some part is more realistic than HOTD. How the government respond to an unknown epidemic or how untrained character react to death early on or how romance slowly developed over time.

The story, plotwise, sounds like something I wrote when I was 11. It's just so baffling bad and is nonsensical. The plot is so, I can't even explain it, it's non-existent. The only reason they try to push the story "forward" is to get to the next ecchi scene. The obstacles the MC must overcome is the most underhyped and easily solved roadblocks in manga history. An obstacle that would normally take 3 chapters to overcome in any well flushed out manga is easily overcome in a single panel, it's nonsensical to say the least. If you are looking for ecchi and some nice artwork you'll find some enjoyment, if you're looking for anything else you might as well leave.
There are quite a few plotholes and characters that the mangaka just seemed to have forgotten about which really makes you confused as to why they were even mentioned in the first place.
For example in Chapter 26 (Not spoiling anything just some nonsensical things)
they suddenly mention a guy who hasn't appeared for the last 20 chapters saying that he can't be trusted, all of a sudden they are mentioning names and events that they didn't show, but simply happen like the audience is supposed to know what they are talking about. They suddenly say that xxxxx is actually a very important person for blah blah blah, and all you can think to yourself is, "wait a minute, who the fuck is xxxxx? I have absolutely no idea who this character is and you're just bringing it up out of nowhere?"
With most bad mangas there are frequently pages you have to stop and re-read many times just to figure out what they're talking about or how some progression happened, this is one of those mangas. As I don't speak Japanese it might not actually be the mangaka's fault, rather the translator and proofreaders, but it doesn't matter either way because no matter who the fault is on, it's still confusing as hell.

This is an odd one. Some parts of it are actually very well done, like the bodyhorror and the tension in the beginning, the expressive art styl or the constant evolution of the danger, but so much else just didn´t work at all.

This manga tries to mix survival horror, with heavy ecchi elements, a highschool drama, light hearted comedy and a battle shounen protagonist in one story and fails so spectecularly with it that i just can´t stop reading.
We have emotional and dramatic scenes, that are built up for multiple chapters intercut with stupid sex jokes, that kill all tension and it´s leaving a tast of utter confusion behind every time.
Other times the cast is acting so irrational and straight out stupid that i actually can not stop me from laughing and i don´t talk about the discussions between characters in the middle of a zombie attack(and trust me these are so common here). I mean so stupid, that you wouldn´t belive it if i wrote it down.

The character are all over the place. Some are dense as a brick wall, some are straight out evil, others change their entire personality in just 2 pages without a reason, but if the character is a cute girl they will probably try getting it on with the MC. So of course nearly all female characters talk or think about the MC every time they are able to.
The odd thing is that you can actually see decent or even good written characters later in the manga, with nice characterisation and motivation, but even here they start to loose 50 IQ points the moment the MC shows up or something bad has to happen and that is the most frustrating part for me.

The story starts off as a more ore less classic zombie story and evolves over time into somthing vaguely resembling somthing like Parasyte or Sweet Home, just without the good writing to back it up. Sadly unnecessary highschool drama dominates even life or death situations for the most part.
To be fair, there are nice stories sprinkled in, but they are few and far between.


The manga is full of clichés, is unfocused, the characters are inconsistant, the story is somewhere between predictable and stupid and the dialog isn´t something to write home about either. I would never say that this is a good manga, but i realy do enjoy it for the very few competent parts that come to the surface from time to time and especially for the incompetent wrinting.
If you can enjoy something like this, you will probably have a blast with it, but if you expect a decent horror manga or something you can unironicly appreciate, don´t bother with this one.

Story (7): It's the same plot of almost every zombie story. It's the exact same premise of Highschool of the Dead, the inspiration is clear. It has nothing innovator, but it's still quite enjoyable to zombie apocalypse fans.

Art (9): The art is excellent, character design consistent and good scenarios.
This work has a lot of panties showing off, and the design of these panties is outstandingly good and the erotic poses are very well drawn.

Character (8): The only character with a distinctive personality is the main heroine that is an exhibitionist, the others have classic personalities, but they were very well chosen, you'll probably like the most of them.

Enjoymente (9): The enjoyment about this work is something rather personal, if you are searching for a rich story and seriousness like on "I am a Hero" you'll not find it on this work, but if you like "Highschool of the Dead" with the shonen like horror and ecchi, you'll find basically the same thing here, and the mangaka is alive and full of health, it'll probably not end like Highschool of the Dead, probably...

Overall (9): If you like shonen with horror aspects and ecchi you'll probably like it. I really don't recommend this work to people who are looking works similar to "I am a Hero", but if you are looking for works similar to "Highschool of the Dead" or "Mahou Shoujo of the End" you'll probably like it.
