Uchuu Kyoudai review
“If you’re feeling like there’s nowhere you belong… That you’re trapped in a small world… It’s those feelings that drive us beyond our world.”
Space Brothers/Uchuu Kyoudai is a story about two brothers and their journey of becoming astronauts. Well, except the younger of the two, Hibito is already one, and the older brother, Mutta, starts off at square one. The series follows Mutta as he struggles through test after test; the long, arduous road to becoming a fully-fledged astronaut. This is a realistic representation of what the journey is like, and the amount of detail gone into is to be commended. And although this technically *is* a story about this journey to get into space, the focus is on the characters, and is much more of a slice-of-life than it is a sci-fi. However, I will warn you that the amount of detail can at times become a negative thing. One example is in the initial testing for astronaut selection, the sheer length of the tests and the detail that is gone into can make reading the manga become laborious and at times, boring. But the manga excels in a few aspects that I want to highlight here. One of these is in characterization and the relationships between characters. Sure the story is "about" these two brothers, but the focus jumps between a variety of the huge cast, and many different personalities pop up throughout the story. Most of the personalities you see will be relatively realistic and will react to situations in ways you would expect a real person to. I also want to point out that relationships between two characters are also done very well; the relationship between the two brothers for one example is done beautifully. Also the relationship between groups of crew members fighting to become a selected candidate is fascinating, as the conflict of interests become a major setback in mission progress, and it leads to a very interesting read on human group psychology. Space Brothers is also an incredibly inspiring series, but not the false-hope kind of inspiration. There’s no cheesy, hollow, “you can do it,” phrases. Instead, by reading a character realistically setting out a goal and striving for it, and ultimately achieving it; Space Brothers really makes you feel like you can achieve your own goals if you just give it an honest shot and don’t back down when things get rough. The artwork is for the most part, average for a seinen. However the mangaka definitely puts more effort into the more important scenes in the story. Character design is great however, with each being unique enough to recognise, while still keeping a continuous art style throughout. One gripe I had with this series that I did not like was the constant flashbacks of side-characters. The amount of chapters put into the back-stories of characters that I honestly had no care for seemed like a waste of time. Time that could have been spent further developing the main cast. In conclusion, Space Brothers is a realistic slice-of-life story that follows the inspirational journey of Mutta to fulfill his dream of becoming an astronaut. It is not a story for everyone, but if you like the sound of what I’ve said so far, check it out, you’ll probably enjoy yourself. The series is still ongoing, and at the posting of this review, is 242 chapters long.

Mon Seul review
There are topics you simply can not write about if you have bad or barely average storytelling skills. Peadophilia is one of them.
I honestly don't think (or rather: I try to not think) that author had bad intentions or tried to show paedophilia as a controversial yet positive casus. It is definitely not a level of those disgusting lolicon hentais, it didn't piss me off so much as the trope of adult women trapped in bodies of girls for the sake of fetishist target. It is just written so badly it not only hurts but spreads very, very dangerous subtexts. Author tried to portret a broken family, broken to the point where everyone hurts everyone due to plain egoism and lack of communication. It is clearly seen that he made quite of research, especially for a process of bonding between paedophile and their victim. The problem lies in his unability of showing it all realistically, with a clear narrative and intentions. Let's take Nabokov's Lolita as an example - it is a storry written from predator's perspective and yet the reader has an idea what is bad and how and why it is bad. From the beggining till the end we are aware we are inspecting perspective of a wicked, disgusting person. We not only feel it but understand it thanks to the author. Mon Seul's author, however, tries to remain neutral and switches the point of view from the predator, to the victim and (mainly) to the victim's guardian. And he is not sincere with his intentions. Thanks to it we can see how older brother abuses, controls and feels jealous for younger sister who he caught being raped. We see the younger sister (10yo) initiating romantic relationship with adult friend of family and finding herself mature enough for it. Finally, we see the predator finding himself a victim of wicked family actions. It all would work if any of those narratives was the only one AND written wisely. Yes, horribly egoistic and control-freaky brother could feel betrayed by his remaining family member being dragged away - even if it's a child abused by a paedophile. Yes, kids often fall for paedophilies looking for a bond that could replace non-exisitng or problematic ones - and they can get attached to the predator. Finally, yes, peadophiles can think of themselves as innocent and even push the responsibility on their victims. But none of this point of views is correct or healthy and they are connected with psychical disfunctions. It should be precisely shown. Author treated paedophilia as a casual family drama. And it would somehow - still badly but not as bad - if the girl was older, 13-15 years old. Still too young to get involved into relationship with 20+ guy but old enough for this plot to work the way author wanted. Without it, it's simply very wrong and very toxic and I'm very not happy I stumbled on it thanks to 2019 Manga Reading Challenge. Ah, also the art style plainly sucks. Gave 3 points 'cause it was quite funny to see what the author could do with feet.

SENSEI YORI MO AMAKU review
I read it within 10 minutes. It's very short as it says, it's a one shot. Nothing complex and the story is basic. Young student girl is in love with her piano teacher who, for all intents and purposes, married. However, despite him being involved she pursues him relentlessly and is willing to go as far as it takes to be with him even if he is involved.
You see this all wrapped around a music and how it connects them. It's a love story and the girl is very precocious with the man seeming to be uninvolved...but later proves otherwise. It's okay, the artwork was definitely very good, from my perspective. The story was unoriginal with poor character development, but this is understandable considering how short the fic is. But I did enjoy it...blame it on lack of sleep. ^_^

Ayakashi Triangle review
Kentarou san?
〃(♡▽♡〃) EEEECCCHIIII Gender Bender? Doesn’t Matter! Ayakashi? OH YES BABY! You mean potential creatures that will have tentacles or liquids that melt clothes. OWO Story & Characters: 6/10 (Story isn’t the key reason I read Kentarou’s work. As long as it has “females” in the story, this is a standard 6. Be warned though, the story is gonna digress. But, who cares? :P) Art: 20/10 (Those Curves. Oh Babyyyyyyyyy~~ I AM COMINGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!. ) Enjoyment: ROCK SOLID HARD ;) 10!! Reading Kentarou san's work is not merely an enjoyment. It is a passion! Overall: 8 Flipping through Kentarou san’s work is like reading the sacred texts of Ecchi. If you have never fantasized about Japanese high school girls, this is a great place to start. *FBI OPEN UP*

Adam to Eve review
My personal favourite manga writer teams up with one of Japan's greatest manga artists.
The result is Adam to Eve, a newborn classic that filled my desire for more absurd and provocative and innovative works such as Ichi the Killer. This manga achieves all merits; it is easy to follow, has a simple but captivating story and is full of iconic scenes. It's relatively short, but due to its great pacing, it doesn't feel incomplete or lacking in any way. I also can not overstate how gorgeous this manga looks. It's certainly the most beautiful art i've seen from Ikegami so far. The artwork aims for realism, but all characters have distinct designs, often manifested in subtle ways. Even the extras can all be easily recognized. No more words needed. I just wish Takashi Miike would turn this into a movie. 10/10

Dogeza de Tanondemita review
In a world where isekai is one of the most saturated genres of all time, there is always that one piece of art that astonishes the reader beyond belief and Dogeza de Tanondemita is one of them.
The manga is really short, you can probably finish this in 15 to 20 minutes, but despite it being short it captivates the reader from the first chapter, i myself couldn't stop reading it and was always surprised to see what happened at the end of every chapter. At first i wondered how did the mangaka even have the idea to make a manga where the main character got girls to do ecchi shit for him with the most op power one can have: bowing and from an outsiders perspective this looks your average ecchi manga, but like i said before once you start reading it.....you can't stop and you will keep wanting to know what is gonna happen in the next chapter. An anime adaptation has already started airing since yesterday as of this reviews date but i recommend everyone to read this first before watching the anime to experience it in its full degenerative glory.

Dokunie Cooking review
tl;dr: A manga that has decent comedy and starts some interesting world building but ends before doing much with it.
The original premise was pretty interesting with someone actually trying to be eaten, and serves as a really good hook. The hook relies solely on its comedic value and only a very narrow range of that, with it not really having potential beyond that. Hence, as the manga went on it did some world building that was actually surprisingly good though pretty much completely unrelated to the original premise. The ending tried to tie everything together in a pretty rushed format, wherein it felt like there was a lot more that could have been done with the world that the author built that just wasn’t, but all in all I suppose it was satisfying enough. The characters were interesting enough, though there wasn’t really any character development or anything like that. There was relationship development, but it wasn’t that strong. The comedy was pretty solid all the way through, but beyond the beginning only rarely was it really great. The art was really good all the way through though.

Hot Gimmick review
reverse harem nightmare-
main character has no backbone, was blessed by god to be infuriatingly indecisive her whole life. I think an accurate name to this manga would be "sexual assault-the manga" my god, the men in this manga, absolute trash, mc gets to pick from -asshole brat, assaults at any given moment, treats her like property has extreme sexist tendencies (main) -creepy brother that turns out to not be a brother that has been in love with his technically-sister (shudder) -this other asshole that roofies her who would you choose? the manga kind of forces you to choose the absolute shithead that is ryouki tachibana, intimate moments are draw well and your heart will do that loop thing its supposed to do in shoujos except you'll realise our boy here is fondling with the mc's tits in public despite her telling him to stop. literally no concept of consent the entire time, and then that sweet feeling is replaced by terrible terrible nausea. oh and may I add the manga artist has such a talent for drawing the main couple making out, because that panel will look so sweet and they'll stare into each others eyes with such fondness and just confuse you as a reader, did I mention tachibana hits mc and calls her deragotary terms as a form of endearment, cute, right? in my fury I just couldn't stop reading midway, I read it entirely in one sitting and proceeded to be sour the entire day. despite all this, if youre feeling particularly self depreciating one day, give it a read and bask in that dominant-daddy-that's-an-actual-jerk-and-should-be-dumped-immediately also you-belong-to-me-so-dont-think-about-any-other-male-except-abusively-possessive boyfriend glory, you know what serves her right for being a total idiot

Good Father review
Story; 7
Four chapters, and an extra. The four chapters are about an overprotective father that won't let his daughter date men. The daughter is 17, and already has a serious relationship for a half year and wants her father to know and accept it. Boy isn't accepted > boy wants to be acknowledged > father is dj > boy wants to win dj contest > voíla, there you have an extraordinary story. I'd advise you not to read the extra though. It doesn't look like a follow up on characters from the first four chapters. Art; 6 Mediocre. Many personages look like they want to look cool... Character; 6 Not great, but not too bad either. I wouldn't say 'it is very realistic' but then again, this story is too short for real characters. Enjoyment; 8 I really like the story. It really is something else! Overall; 7 when you're looking for a short story this is a nice one to read!
