Monster review
Look at me, look at me! The monster inside me has grown this large!
- The Nameless Monster (Obluda, Která Nemá Své Jméno)

What does a man have to do to become fictitious? How does one make his existence merely fiction? It's dubbed as the "perfect suicide". Kill everyone who has had memories of you, and finally, kill yourself.

Somewhat long summary, or rather, plot introduction:

The plot of Monster revolves around Dr. Tenma, a surgeon with a bright future in his field of work, and engaged to the beautiful and glamorous daughter of one of the medical world's most influential players, his hospital's director, Udo Heinemann.

One day, he is instructed by Udo to abandon a young boy's surgery, who is in critical condition from a bullet wound to his head, and to operate on the Mayor who came in later. Infuriated by the hospital's politics and haunted by his past mistake of giving in to it, he defies his superior's order and operates on the boy, while leaving the Mayor's operation to his colleagues.

The boy survives the operation and Dr. Tenma feels liberated. He did the right thing. As a doctor, he had been fair in his duty, he had saved the life that was to be rightfully saved. But are everyone's lives truly equal?

That's when his reality turns into the most horrifying nightmare he could imagine.

The Mayor dies, Tenma's status is revoked, the director who had taken him under his wing to bring him to the heights of the surgical field casts him away, and his fiancee abandons him.

Consequently, the director dies and the killer is none other than Johan, the boy that Tenma saved. Johan was a mass serial killer, and now that he was brought back to life, goes on a killing rampage, a seemingly mad massacre of countless people.

Agonized, Tenma then sets out to find Johan, and with his own hands that brought this monster back to life, kill him once and for all.

This is a manga that is a true thriller; it's intensely psychological, chillingly creepy, packed with fast-paced action, and builds up the suspense perfectly.

Monster will stay with me as one of the most memorable and impactful mangas I have ever read, not because of the plot and it's expert story-telling (though that is of course what makes it the outstanding manga that it is), but because of the ending.

The ending still creeps me out and it was that moment that made me realise that Monster was, at its heart, a true horror story.

Never before have I experienced a manga that ended at such a bone chilling climax with no trace of closure. This is scarier than those fucked-up horror mangas because at least those have some sort of ending, no matter how warped or disturbing.

I heard the ending is even more creepy in the anime, what with the animation and music. (wow ok I just jumped when I heard a scraping sound outside my room I'm scaring myself shitless writing this) But don't think of watching/reading the ending before even reading the manga, it's only scary if you've read the entire story.

"Tell me, what do you think is the ultimate fear? I thought I'd reached the darkest part of the abyss. But then, ahead of me... There was an even greater darkness."

Monkey Peak review
I'm don't understand how this manga has received such a low rating, personally I think it's a very enjoyable read and it definitely deserves a higher score

Story: 9
the story is great, the monkey idea is something i haven't seen before and the fact that they are in the mountains adds a nice touch to the horror. There is also the fact that problems such as starvation and dehydration are shown which makes it more realistic

Art: 7
It's nothing special but it's not bad either not much to say really

Character(s): 8
The characters are realistic, when dehydration kicks in some are selfish and persuade others into joining them, and the MC is likeable and the way he tries to interact with his peers but fails is weirdly gap moe-y.
The reason character isn't 9 or 10 is because it does feel like some of the hatred thrown at our MC is unwarranted and seems slightly forced, they pick on him for no reason even though he's really nice. But the redemption from this is the fact that the side characters who are nice to the MC are likeable and kinda make up for the bitchy selfish characters :P

Enjoyment: 9
Really enjoyable overall but i do wish english translations were slightly faster but apart from that there is 0 problems (aside from the minor ones mentioned earlier of course :3)

Overall: 9
if you're looking for a fun read check this manga out! It isn't the scariest manga out there but it's atmospheric and will give ya a lil' spook at least! I hope people rate this higher in the future!

Bye!

Jaryuu Tensei review
There are some minor spoilers, so take care when reading this;

Now, there are a lot of differing opinions on what you should get out of isekai stories; I'm pretty fond of the genre, myself, and watch a lot of the anime - recently have read quite a few of the manga as well. That being said, there are a lot of different styles, portrayals, and premises for them to play out as. Many negative reviews here, so I thought I'd offer a different opinion, as I enjoyed it just fine.

I rated story 5, as it does tend to follow a lot of the isekai stereotype and not very original beyond the introduction...

The art I gave a 7 - it's not super serious like what you might find in darker stories, but I feel that given the idea of this story is supposed to be pretty lighthearted, the art fits well enough.

The characters I rated a 6; The MC is reincarnated as a badass, lazy, super-powerful dragon. That should be a sweet change and offer a lot of freedom, but as was stated, he takes a pill and becomes a human...or looks human - he still possesses a lot of his dragon powers, or begins to later. Ultimately, he's a badass, but they took some of the direction the story can go away and narrowed it down to the stereotype. Next, introduce the hot elf chick. He gets a companion to his 'party' that fits the stereotypical elf of isekai stories. Young, Bangin' body, and has major skill with archery/magic/combat. Not all bad, and eye candy is always welcome, but there are more ways to go than following the pattern.

As for the Enjoyment rating, I gave it a 7; the reason being, I enjoyed reading it. It was a good way to kill some time, and I felt comfortable reading all 18 chapters from start to finish (not a finished story yet, but what is there so far!) without taking any breaks. At the end of the day, I just look for ways to kill time and make me smile. I wasn't appalled by reading this, nor was I shown scenes that made my stomach curl, as has been the case with other manga/anime. Goblin Slayer, for instance, the first episode left me feeling disturbed and anxious because of the cruelty and depth of evil they portrayed. That's not bad for everyone, but that's also not what I look for. So, in the end, depending on what you expect from a manga or anime, you can expect differing opinions on enjoyment levels. The first review I read, the guy seemed to be more interested in the more serious type of story, whereas this story is more for lighthearted comical value. There are some dark parts in it (the elf's story, for instance, was pretty sad/dark/evil), but overall it follows a lazy, snarky guy looking to have an enjoyable life in this new world he's been forced into.

Overall, I gave it a 7. I will say that the author/artists will need to at some point give a more detailed backstory for the MC. There have been a few hints, but it's all pretty darn vague. I look forward to seeing more, and I hope that the ratings here (overall a 7ish score, so that's good!) don't plunge so much that the story is never completed. Nothing breaks my heart more than getting a good manga/anime/novel series that cuts off in the middle because of lack of funding, or ratings, or some such. Good example of that was the anime series Sekirei - I started watching that a few years back, got through the second season, which ended with a very "to be continued" sort of ending, then almost a decade later, nothing. That's not relevant to this review, so I'll leave it at that; All in all, I strongly recommend this series to someone who wants a fluffy, lighthearted adventure story about a guy trying to have a decent, happy life - no 'defeat the evil' or 'find a way home' or any of that crap, just a "I'm gonna have a good time here" kind of story.

Scarlet review
Scarlet is a Yuri manga that is quite entertaining, however I dropped it after the first volume for a reason that most people won't have a problem with, and I'll get into that later.

This manga includes its unique breed of vampires (called werewolves) and actual werewolves (called man-eating wolves) and follows two characters as they seek to eradicate the drug known as elixir to stop people from turning into werewolves. They discuss this in detail, and it's surprisingly interesting. There's a lot of mystery involved and I can see more of that being uncovered in later volumes. The art was outstanding, with dynamic movements and well thought out backgrounds. However, while there is some humor and a lot of fighting, there is still the Yuri aspect. To calm down Finé, Iris (the man-eating wolf) lets her drink some of her blood, and they do make it seem sexual- which is perfectly normal for vampires. In fact, I liked these scenes, because it wasn't so over the top that it took me away from the plot, but instead added another layer to their relationship. The reason I dropped this, however, is because in the second volume the mangaka turned up the Yuri romance to near maximum for an older teen book. I know that many people appreciate this, and I don't blame them at all! From what I heard there aren't many good Yuri stories like this so I hope this will help close that gap. It was just a shock from the implied romance in the first volume to them being in bed together (granted, it seemed like a body swapping situation from what I read, but my point still stands). I want to support the mangaka and the industry but it went in a direction I wasn't expecting. But honestly, if you want a beautifully drawn, awesome fantasy/Yuri story, you will definitely find something here. I recommend it, it's just a bit much for my personal tastes.

Buyuden review
First of all, sorry for my bad english and forgive me for any grammar errors.

Well, I'll write this review in a general perspective of the piece. Buyuden is a normal boxing manga. It has all the elements of a shounen/martial arts: A typical highschool boy gets to know some way that might make him stronger, and this simple desire is what keeps him moving forward.

But this had some new points that I have never seen in any boxing/martial arts manga. Well, the first one is that Take Isamu, the protagonist, wants to learn boxing only because he met a cute girl (Kaname Moka) that pratices it, an so he has this sole motivation to introduce himself in the world of boxing.

Second point, the fights. They're not as emotional, tecnical, strategic and epic as Hajime no Ippo's fights. They're pretty simple and very fast. But the point here it's the results. The main pugilists struggle A LOT to defeat an oponent, and don't win the fights very often. They have to think fast, know their own weaknesses and punch under the adrenaline and pressure of a boxing match. They can't win with their motivations and willpower only. That is a strong point for creating realistic fights. Perhaps the strongest point in this manga.

The art is good, especially in the fights. From the beginning to the end, it doesn't change much.

Now to the weak points. Although the story is interesting in the beginning, it walks in the same path as any shounen manga. Take Isamu only continues in the world of boxing for the desire of becoming stronger, even if he says that he does so to "Complete Moka's dream".

The characters... well, they're not very developed. They do change, but it's nothing gradual and slow like Holyland. It's a bit unreal, but it doesn't mess up the story.

For conclusion: This is not similar to Hajime no Ippo, and neither to Holyland. This is Buyuden. It's not a unique manga, but it has it's differences with other shounen/sports/martial arts. I had a good time reading it, as a boxing fan myself.

My advice is: Are you a boxing/martial arts fan? Are you looking for some refresing reading? Do you just want to see some fast punching fights? Them Buyuden is for you, give it a shot.

Are you looking for a unique manga? Are you not a fan of boxing/martial arts? Are you looking for a manga with a strong story? Them, don't waste time reading it.
