Madowanai Hoshi review
The first thing about Madowania Hoshi is that the description doesn't fully capture what the manga is about. It's not inaccurate, but it leaves a lot out, mainly that the manga is in many ways a physics and astronomy lesson with a plot built around it.

The anthropomorphized version of Earth is in trouble and the other planets assume human form to find a way to help. In the process, the moon gives continuous physics lessons, which can be interesting, but if it's not what you're looking for, it can easily get annoying. The main story, about finding out how to help Earth and the divisions between 'outside' and 'inside', is frequently left behind so that multiple chapters can be devoted to the moon's physics lessons. The story itself is interesting, so I found myself wishing that it had more attention instead of the focus on teaching physics.

As for the characters, the protagonist S-Zawa is a change of pace in that he is pudgy and not at all handsome or extraordinary looking. At the start of the story, he is wearily going along with his job and life when all of this is thrust upon him. It's nice to have a break from the constant focus on teenage protagonists. Where things start to break down is that S-Zawa is a bit of a perverted incel. He's attracted to his co-worker and blames her for distracting him with her sexy body. He also openly states that he prefers the more well-endowed planets (which is a sentence I never thought I'd need to type). I personally find the perverted protagonist trope to be tired and overused, so his behavior was kind of annoying. Although, for better or worse, the physics lessons frequently take precedence over exploring more of his personality.

Almost all the other characters are attractive women, and the female planets frequently don't wear much in the way of clothes, so there's fanservice, which I don't particularly care for. The only thing that keeps it from being a harem is that the planets don't seem to have any interest in S-Zawa. The standout character is probably the moon, who is the resident physics teacher and regularly gets mad at people for not understanding physics or at anime programs for not being realistic.

The art has a "Wizard of Oz" theme to it. Whenever scenes take place in the outside or on the Earth's surface, they are black and white. Scenes that take place in the anime-centric inside are presented in full-color. This helps to present the distinction between the elite-but-idle and those that labor on the outside.

Overall, I think this series has a lot of missed potential since it focuses more on physics lessons than it does on the story of Earth or the divisions between 'outside' and 'inside'. Only four volumes are out, so this could change in the future. There are underlying subtexts on consumerism and ecological responsibility (and the anime industry); if those were explored with more depth, it would greatly improve the story.

Sirius no Kizuato review
Amateur artist often have a great image in their mind, but fail to recreate it outside their heads. It seems professionals aren't safe from this, either - and this manga is one of many such examples.

Imagine a cyberpunk-ish sci-fi world with a complete cultural melting pot, where one of the very few sources of entertainment for the masses are the "dogfights" - staged fights to the death (or destruction) between cyborgs. One of these cyborgs is Sayoko Tachibana, now known as the White Thirteen or Sirius. She sold her body (quite literally) to pay the medical bills for her sick brother Takeru and now, with her brain as the only human part, she mindlessly bashes cyborg heads in. Takeru wasn't having any of this though and breaks his sister out of this enslavement, managing to sorta "awaken" her. Now they're both on the run from the mysterious organization that owns Sayoko's cyborg body and organizes the dogfights, and the big boss Marseille is hell-bent on bringing her back, no matter the cost.

And so the adventure of epic proportions begins. At least in the artist's head, but really, the story struggles a lot. A whole LOT. Almost every plot point and side story end up being not what they were hyped up to be. Be it Sayoko herself or any other character, at first there allusions to greater depths to them, but the story simply doesn't deliver. The overarching plot ends up disappointing as well, as it ultimately does not matter. Nothing matters in the end, yet also somehow resolved off-screen in the epilogue. A-grade storytelling right there. With the appropriate characters to boot. Really, what's up with the villain? What was his deal, his obsession all about? His breakdown in the end is literally out of nowhere. And as said before, it even doesn't matter, he even admits that himself! Also what about Sayoko? All this tension about her living on borrowed time and struggling to preserve her newfound humanity? Doesn't matter, devolves to more cyborg fights. It's also not even about her and her brother, as Takeru has his hands full with his little girlfriend. The silver lining is this minor villain, troop leader Cunningham, who curiously resembles an actual human the most, he is also the one you can really get behind. And even that doesn't matter, he still stays a two-bit villain just because. Did this author ever produce anything coherent?

In the end you'll likely only stay around for the admittedly nice art and the cyborg fights. Those are cool. Everything else is bad and forgettable. Do not read, just skip through and enjoy a nun brutalizing cyborgs.

Akuyaku Reijou no Tsuihougo!: Kyoukai Kaikaku Gohan de Yuuyuu Sister-gurashi review
So far, I absolutely love this series! I know that some people might find it a tad cliché or mushy, but what is there to expect? It is literally classified as Shoujo.
Personally, I think that all the characters are super lovable and relatable, with an engaging storyline and an interesting spin on the whole "good" and "bad" that most Shoujo-themed platforms tend to overlook. That's not to mention the amazing art style and the general amusement I get each time I read these!

Like I said, the way that 《Akuyaku Reijou no Tsuihougo!: Kyoukai Kaikaku Gohan de Yuuyuu Sister-gurashi》 subverts my expectations, and yet sticks to basic anime tropes gives it an original feel, while still retaining an air of familiarity. I like how the main character is forced to take the role of "villain," although she does everything in her power to change her fate; never losing her sweet personality along the way, though.
However, watching the misunderstandings play out can be exasperating at times, but they are usually pretty humorous, at least. Also, the way that Palace life is fairly accurately portrayed, as strict and tiresome, and therefore making being banished a hidden mercy, is a refreshing idea.
Can I also just mention how cute/funny it is when Elizabeth and Leonid are interacting with each other? Like, I'm pretty sure I'm biased towards that kind of personality set, but still! :)

Akutou Danshi Collection review
Akutou Danshi Collection is a Shoujo, Smut, Romance, Comedy about the challenges of dormitory life. Well that’s what I thought at first but the short story really has no focus and just does things has it pleases.

The story follows our heroine (Suzuno Himura) who had to give up the life in an all-girl school & expensive dorm and downgrade to a co-ed school & cheap dorm, due to her family’s financial problems. Being the only girl there, things could get rather difficult for her and it is then that she gets mixed up with the fierce dorm leader (Kazuomi Shinriyuuji). This set-up is made specifically for the reader to sympathize with Suzuno but to me it is ridiculous, especially when you include the ‘save the dorm’ plot. Although the main focus of the story, through these 3 chapters, tends to easily lose focus and randomly move onto others things like: Suzuno’s well-being, the school Principal and the growing relationship between Suzuno & Kazuomi.

When talking about Suzuno, she seems to fit the bill for the standard ‘naïve girl’ role well and her only special trait has to be her absurd strength, which is really the only reason to justify her being in so many dangerous situations. Kazuomi also fits the bill for ‘tough-guy with a heart’ role well, making the pair very unremarkable. The other characters were not even important enough to be given names and if they were given a name it’s easy to forget it straight afterwards.

The artwork for this shoujo manga was really good, when it came to the way the characters & scenery looked during close-ups but was really average when it came to anything else, including the crudely drawn comedy.

Overall Akutou Danshi turned out to be an uninspiring manga, which not only did poorly with the simple story it had but it failed in both smut & comedy. The romance was one of the redeeming factors but it was still too common for any shoujo manga reader. If you’re not a fan of short manga then this one certainly won’t change your opinion.
