Koe no Katachi review
A Silent Voice covers the arc of redemption of a bully who dearly regrets his past. After being betrayed, punished, and bullied himself, Shoya becomes the one in the story with the 'silent voice' rather than his original victim, Shoko Nishimiya.

Before reading this wonderful manga, I watched the movie adaptation. The adaptation was so wonderful and even brought me to tears multiple times as I continued to think about these characters. After purchasing the source material and giving it a read I truly believe there was only one part of the movie that did better than its manga. The animation. Kyoto knocked it out of the park and made the heartbreaking scenes in the manga even better by bringing it to life.

Now what the manga did better. Pretty much everything, from character arcs and their depth and development, the plot, the pacing. The manga was a better story overall and showed a lot more love for the more confusing characters in the anime adaptation. For example, Satoshi, a kid who was bullied and lived his time before knowing Shoya's past hating bullies in every way. He would go to the point of hurting children and disrespecting adults if he found them the slightest bit disrespectful. Because of his past trauma, Satoshi hated bullies until he finally met one that changed for the better. All of Satoshi's arc was cut out of the movie... all of it.

Yuzuru Nishimiya is the sister of the main character Shoko and I truly feel that we get a better grasp of her in the manga. We see more of her overall and how she connects with Shoya and the others. We also get to see more of her depressed state and how much she really does for Shoko.

Now for the two everyone hates. Naoka and Miki. I still dislike Miki after this read but it dawned on me that Naoka's character made more sense rather than her just being a nasty brat like she is in the adaptation. As they are meant to be disliked, I like how their selfish personalities show how hard it can be to change even with good people around you. And this really hits, as Shoya is trying to do just that.

We also get to see some more content after the ending of the film. We see what everyone wants to be when the are older and how they go about it. The main duo end up studying to become hairstylists, Shoya, to carry on his mothers business, and Shoko, because she loves it and was inspired to do so.

There is so much more to the written story and I recommend everyon to read it .

Shingeki no Kyojin review
All complaints aside, I don't think many mangas can match Shingeki no Kyojin's titanic entertainment value :D

Initially, I thought some of the major plot twists were downright silly. I'm trying not to spoil, so I'll just say that I remember thinking stuff like 'Wut? No one bothered to check what the wall was made of? For a 100 years?' or counting on my fingertips thinking 'Ok, so thats nearly half of his friends who're...wow'. I thought about it however, and now I think that without those twists, the story would have been pretty boring and linear. I really love how everything is linked in this manga; nothing is without purpose. I suppose some would say it narrows the world down (as thats what I used to think), but I think it works great for manga.

The artwork really sells this manga in my opinion. The heavy emphasis of the blacks and shadows really suits the survival theme, and the titans are truly the scariest manga antagonists ever! What's really terrifying about the way the titans are drawn is that, their faces are so realistic, I can actually say I've seen people that look like them!

The characters are a bit mediocre, and there are so many characters without any unique qualities that are overshadowed by the main character's outstanding abilities. However, the manga isn't devoid of character development, and when it happens, it's in relevance to the story (linking to what I've said above) so there's the pro of not having to read unnecessary backstory.

It ain't perfect, but I think this manga trades the mere possibility of becoming a masterpiece in exchange for pure enjoyment. I think that's great :D

One Piece review
Ok so I gave 10s to all: story, art, character, enjoyment, and overall.

I gave this manga a 10 even though it deserves, like, 1000.

One Piece is a battle mainstream manga. It is full of action and fights, and at first glance might seem stupid and random, but oh gods believe me, this is so very likely to be the BEST battle shounen manga you guys will have ever read. Widely classified as the top three most popular battle series alongside Naruto and Bleach, I've got to admit that One Piece is just.... way above those two. One Piece stands on top, the pinnacle of perfection, so posh and fabulous and flawless and pretentious.

Story - The story tells us about the adventure of Monkey D. Luffy, a very fiery young boy who dreams to be the Pirate King. The story starts from when he first set sail, and he gradually collects one member at a time to join his pirate crew. To me the story is original (I mean, who talks about pirates nowadays?) and the execution is nothing less than PERFECT. Can't talk about all the arcs because this manga has more than 700 chapters at the moment, but from the very start, when Luffy met the first man to join his journey, from that time on, the story progressed real smoothly, and real intriguing.

One Piece is one of the most complex series I've ever read-- it's full of unanswered questions at the moment. All the mysteries waiting to be solved-- ahh the thrill! Even though there are still so many holes until the main story is fully revealed, it doesn't make me feel agitated at all. My curiosity is perfectly fine and healthy, and I will patiently wait until everything gets explained. On the other side, I have a rather high expectation for the revelation, but looking at past experience and how Odacchi, the author, has brought the story so far, I have no complaints.

Odacchi also doesn't seem to run out of ideas. One Piece is overflowing with wild, wild imagination. So many awesome things support this manga and make it even more surprising. I mean how many people in this world would ever think of making snails as a medium of communication? How many people would ever create mermaids with specific fish types? How many people would ever think of creating the Void Century, mysterious devil fruits, poneglyphs, the Marines and their posh Justice cape, Will of D, Sea Kings, and Yarukiman Mangrove?? I suppose nobody but Odacchi could ever make these epicness possible.

Art - The art starts off rather funny and functional, but Odacchi has always had this intricate, unique style to his drawings that is impossible not to notice. As time flies and chapters by chapters go, the art metamorphosed into something, not entirely new, but more brilliant and more beautiful. The art is really cool and it goes really well with Odacchi's wonderful imagination. There are sceneries and odd stuffs drawn so well you can't help but go whooaaa. The only minus I can note is how Odacchi draws with such vigor the fight scenes can be really confusing if you're not following well. But it still doesn't change the fact that the art is amazing.

Character - One Piece as a long running series is also supported by its diverse characters. We have seen a lot, so much characters in more than 700 chapters and despite all of the cliches and the i-will-protect-my-nakama type of people, they are still real fun and real engrossing. Our main pirate crew even consists of three inhuman beings: a living skeleton, a talking reindeer, and a cyborg wearing Hawaiian Aloha shirt. What do you guys expect? Good characters don't always have to be humans yanno. There is Surume the kraken. Even Going Merry has her own human personification. I mean, I have so many characters in my mind when I want to write their names my mind go blank. But that's it. You guys take my point.

Enjoyment - F*ck, how I enjoyed this manga. I enjoyed it too much, in fact. This manga is just simply entertaining and every arcs will keep you glued to your seat. I spent so much words describing my feelings above I can't seem to make anymore words to express how I love this manga. In short, this is a real masterpiece that nobody should ever miss, regardless of whether this is their cup of tea or not. One Piece is exceptional. When you realized it, you'll find yourself craving for more, not wanting to stop.

SCHOOL DAYS review
* CONTAINS MAJOR SPOILERS*

Okay, I'll try to be very straightforward. I went to this manga with zero expectations. And for the first ten chapters, I read a simple but likable romantic triangle. Not great in any aspect, but at least, enjoyable. But, in the last two chapters, what I read was a pathetic, and I really mean PATHETIC, try of the author to give readers a big mindfuck, by suddendly changing the thematic of the manga. And that was atrocious, ridiculous. Well, let's go to the main points:

Story: 2

As I said up there, that was a big fail of the manga. And no, I'm no fan of japanese romantic cuddle-duddle comedies. But there is something called SENSE. An author cannot simply turn around to readers and say "You see this romantic comedy I'm drawing right there? Well, guess what boys and girls! I'm gonna f*ck around the shit of it! Prepare for a creepy horror!". The author must at least give hints of a transformation, and must do so in order to maintain the horror aspect of the story, in a way that engages the readers.

And I won't lie, to a certain aspect, he did it well. But, when you do it in two miserable chapters, you get a story that was going average, completely turn it around, and just finish it. No more no less. Do that, and the reader ends the story with a bitter taste in the mouth (as it was in my case), not excited or joyed. AND WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT ENDING? It made no sense, kept you wondering, SPOILERS ON did she killed her by jealousy, or pure pleasure? Did the thing with the cellphone meant she was never in love with him? In other words, it ended my read with "DAFUQ is this crappy ending?"

Art: 7

Yeah, it was your standard semi-ecchi romantic comedy. It's nice and well-drawn, and that's all there is to it.

Character: 3

Another point ravaged by the abrupt ending. I'm saying this because mainly Kotonoha, who never developed any signs of psychopathy, suddenly feels betrayed by a boy that she was starting to love, and turns into a killer. But beware, Sekai, out of nothing, transforms her own jealousy (that at that point, never took her to the point of stabbing anyone) into psycho-mode, and goes to the real kill. In the end, it's Makoto who stays as the stupid boy who can never decide which one he wants, and ends dead (?) because of it, that is the less-worst character of everyone.

Conclusion:

A pathetic try to shift the genre of a manga costed it's story, and made it into a lame and absurd experience. And I personally don't believe that a manga that ends making you pissed, mad and angry about it's finale can possibly be good. Of course, if you enjoy this kind of bullshit (IMO, of course, I totally respect the ones that enjoyed it), with sudden shift of genre and characterization in it's last breath, you will probably like it. But I highly doubt that anyone (likers and haters) won't end this manga, at least, frustrated.

Kagamigami review
*This review was originally posted for Sakuran and has subsequently been merged into Kagamigami*

Yet another oneshot released in the hopes of getting serialized, but ultimately failed. Usually I can determine why something wasn't serialized, and I can at least understand that reasoning even if I don't agree. This time I'm baffled. I've read another of Iwashiro Toshiaki's oneshots that didn't get serialized, and I easily determined why. This time I just can't understand it.

The plot, while not necessarily unique, was intriguing. I was interested in learning more, and was very attentive the whole way through because of that. Iwashiro was obviously hoping this would be serialized, as the ending raises more questions than answers. This is a pretty normal tactic for oneshots, it's just too bad that those answers won't be delivered.

There are only two characters in this oneshot. The main character and the mysterious alien known as Sakuran. The main character is far from unique, but his attitude is endearing, and as we learn about his past a little, I couldn't help but feel sympathetic for him. Sakuran doesn't have a lot of depth, but quite obviously if there had been a serialization then the mysteries surrounding this character would have served as character development as the manga progressed.

The art is the only thing that doesn't suffer from this incomplete work. Iwashiro's artwork is hit or miss for me, and this oneshot was a "hit". Very crisp, interesting character designs (especially Sakuran), and some very nice depictions of sakura petals.

If you read my whole review, you may have noticed that I said things were obviously heading somewhere IF this had been serialized. That "IF" is what brought the score for this down to a 7, because, sadly, thats all this oneshot can amount to by itself. One big "IF". Worth a read if you enjoyed Iwashiro's other works, as he is in top form here. Even if you've never read anything by Iwashiro there is value to be found here. Just be prepared to be disappointed when you realize the questions this oneshot raises will never be answered.

Albox: Towa wo Kaetara review
First review! Anyways, so to start off I'll just say that this was a fairly manga and I gave 6 and 7's on everything out of 10. I read this manga a while ago, so please bear with me ^.^ The story itself was good although a bit unoriginal in my opinion. When I first read the plot I can remember thinking that it was a bit different then what I typicaly would read but it sounded interesting, so I gave it a try. I would have given the manga a higher score because overall it was a pretty good read, but for some reason I found it very hard to get into. For me, I don't know if it just didn't have that "wow!" factor or what, but you know when you just get drawn into the manga and keep reading and reading and can't wait to see what happens next and see how everything is going to pan out, well for me, this manga didn't really have it. As i said it was good, but I was slightly disapoineted with it in all honestly. It had a bit of a love triangle in it and thats probably what made it score a 6 instead of a 5 but I wish that love triangle went somewhere. It was just kind of there, but with no big development. Neither one of the guys really hit it off with her, they were just friends and it stayed like that until the very end, and it kind of just left me hanging. I was like "thats it?". But i guess it was an ok manga, even without a big love development. I thought the art was good and every character fit his/her look along with his/her role well. Each character fulfilled their purpose and did their job, but I found the characters to all be fairly simple. Each one was unique and different but none really made me go "Wow, that's a memerable character!" if you know what I mean. As for my overall enjoyment, I would say that for me it was a 6 out of 10. It was ok but no REALLY good in my opinion, but if you have some spare time on your hands, I'd sugest you give it a read.

Diabolik Lovers: Prequel review
I thought the anime, OVA, and recap were much worse than this, so they got lower scores. As far as a manga goes, it wasn't good by any means, but perhaps I was more positive about it after seeing the train wrecks that were the animes. You had more character in the manga and some of the boys, while all of them were still pretty twisted, had some semblance of a character. Some were better drawn than they were animated and there were some actual cute moments, though the assault didn't cease. However, the assault didn't really feel like assault here, because Yui is revealed to be a masochist and genuinely enjoys some of the stuff the boys do. While she still doesn't enjoy everything, this is a lot better than the blank, noncensual scenes in the anime.

Overall, a large improvement from the anime to say the least. That being said, I would like to point out this doesn't have very much plot either way. I would suggest treating it like a fanfiction-- you choose your favorite boy and read a somewhat-sexual one-shot dojinshi about them. Or, read for all the boys, like I did. I still despise Kanato and some of the other boys I find a little bland or more than a little twisted, but even then, I actually found some of the chapters genuinely enjoyable, to my own surprise.

I recommend this if: you like sadism/masochism, you like vampires, you like the 'one shot' style without a big underlying plot, you're looking for some fun manga you don't really need to connect to, you adore vampires

I would NOT recommend if: you are looking for character development, plot, want some sort of conclusion, prefer 'vanilla' relationships, like 'nice' guys

Have a great day everyone!!

Survival: Shounen S no Kiroku review
This review is gonna contain spoilers so heads up

This is a terrible survival manga, the narrator or whatever is just annoying and points out the obvious as well as used as some sort of explanation for when the Mangaka does some really dumb plot armor sh*t like how he accidentally figured out how to make leather more loose and wearable among some other god awful contrived BS just to force some plot along. This isn't fun, exciting, intense or thrilling at all to read like a survival manga should be, there are no stakes involved no risks and fear for the main character because he always finds some stupid unbelievable way out of any predicament he is in this dude pretty much killed a bear by accident and tamed a damn owl before that. It's ridiculous.

In short, The narrator over explains everything and seems to think you're blind or stupid and the main character never really works for anything everything just conveniently falls into place and it's just extremely boring. Even when the MC does do something like build a base of operations it just skips forward to when everything is pretty much done and off screens him making tools etc. The least you could do is show us him making it and how hard it was and the process of making etc. but no. It kind of just mentions or shows that he's gonna build something then we skip to when everything is mostly done or is fully complete. it's boring. Wait, this wasn't short.

Sorry for the short review but it's been about a month or more since I last read this and I finally decided to write a review for it since I was bored. I may come back after reading some more to add on to this and I may even go back and re read it to give you a better more detailed reasoning for why I think this is awful but for now i'm gonna leave it at this.
