Chobits was one of those things I heard about as a kid, but never thought to get into until recently. For as high of recommendations as I had heard for this series, I was more or less underwhelmed. Though the art is very well done and there are very good messages about loving others for who they are, not what they are, the plot itself felt fairly narrow. I wasn't surprised by anyone's actions and I wasn't pulled emotionally at very many points. Everything about Hideki and Chii's actions felt predictable to me. It was an okay read, but I don't think I'd go back to it in the future.

The thing that disappointed me the most was the ending. I'm not upset by Hideki's decision to not know the secret about Chii, but I would've like to know. Without having the mystery of Chii and what calamity she could cause being answered clearly, it felt like an empty threat. Overall, it was pretty unfulfilling for me.
