Kishuku Gakkou no Juliet is essentially a manga highlighting the love between two characters from opposing groups, or rather, nations. These two nations featured in this manga are the Western White Cats and the Touwan Black Dogs, both of which have their own principles, beliefs, and unique world views. Romio Inuzuka, the so-called leader of the Black Dogs, has been at odds with Juliet Persia, the leader of the White Cats, all the way since their days in grade school. However, this little squabble between the two isn't just any typical rivalry and it's because Romio Inuzuka is, in fact, madly in love with Juliet Persia! Kishuku Gakkou no Juliet tells the story of how these two students at Dahlia Academy face and overcome the many troubles that follow with an near-impossible relationship.

Story - 9
The story of Kishiku Gakkou no Juliet follows Romio Inuzuka, the leader of the Black Dogs, and Juliet Persia, the leader of the White Cats. The manga starts out by introducing the reader to the conflict between the two respective houses. This little squabble at the very beginning lays down the foundation for the rest of the manga. At this point, it would be normal to assume that there's absolutely no way Romio and Juliet could ever partake in a blossoming, pure relationship... Plot twist. They can, despite their social positions. This relationship between both Romio and Juliet, however, is a very risky endeavor, as their very reputations could be sullied and buried in the ground if found out. Kishuku Gakkou no Juliet follows this principle: "Keep the relationship under wraps." However, that's much easier said than done, as their "secret" inevitably gets exposed to character, after character, after character. This entire concept of this "secret dating" in a high class academy setting is brilliantly pulled off, and it's entirely because of the risk factor involved. One tiny slip-up could cause expulsion, or even worse. With all of that said, Kishuku Gakkou no Juliet gives the reader insight as to how bumpy a relationship between two characters from opposing nations can be and how it shifts the foundation of Romio and Juliet's daily lives.

Art - 10
Kishuku Gakkou no Juliet expresses sublime artwork all throughout the manga, and what's even more cool about it is that it remains consistent for the entire 119 chapters. It wouldn't be a bold claim to state that the art of Kishuku Gakkou no Juliet exceeds that of 90% of manga currently in the works worldwide. Although this might ridiculous and supremely overestimated, I can guarantee that the art is nothing to sneeze at. Readers tend to lose interest in manga quickly if the art is either inconsistent, not detailed enough, or simply bland. Kishuku Gakkou no Juliet, however, doesn't disappoint in this category. Every page is drawn in vivid detail and there are no super obvious mistakes or slip-ups to be seen. Even those irrelevant side characters that many don't care for eventually get a masterpiece of a full-page art spread (if that's what you call it). Truly speaking, the art seen in this manga is most definitely top class. There is no such thing, in my opinion, as a half-assed work of art in Kishuku Gakkou no Juliet.

Characters - 10
I personally found the characters in Kishuku Gakkou no Juliet to be extraordinarily unique and well-thought-out. It wouldn't be incorrect to say that every single character has his or her unique trait that makes them all the more intriguing, and this is absolutely right. Sadists, perverts, tsunderes, blockheads, overprotective kouhais: you name it, this manga has it. While on the topic what makes these characters so distinctive, the designs themselves are also very unique. For example, Maru, a guy who loathes Romio Inuzuka to the core, is usually cold-hearted but shows an unexpected soft side every once in a while. This is only one such example, but there are many more traits to be observed throughout the course of reading Kishuku Gakkou no Juliet. What's more, each character has their own little moment of personal development displayed usually for 2-3 chapters, sometimes more depending on what character it is, but every character, even the ones who play a small role, get a moment of their own in some form or fashion. This in itself is what makes the characters of Kishuku Gakkou no Juliet truly outstanding.

Everything about Kishuku Gakkou no Juliet was supremely above par, be it the vivid storyline featuring opposing nations in an academy setting, the forbidden love between two characters despite their social differences, the unique traits displayed by each character, or even the sublime artwork that impressively remained consistent throughout the entire course of the manga, Kishuku Gakkou no Juliet truly sets the bar high for any romcom manga to be created in the upcoming years.
