Sherlock Holmes's story retold in a manga format down to the detail was certainly interesting both in the art format but also the dialogue, the artist Jay. illustrated scenes from a film series to a manga. Sherlock tackles his cases together with Dr. John H. Watson as they solve cases together as private detectives with notable titles “A Study in Pink”; the introduction to the series and the development between the two characters heavily. “The Blind Banker” shows the unsteadiness between humans and their second nature to question, who they work with and also the exciting case of “The Great Game” where two great minds are at conflict with each other through a series of smaller cases.

Actors and Directors fit novels and texts into the screen for audiences to view and plot to be told through the dynamics of characters on screen. As such the manga of Sherlock Holmes displayed human characteristics, the facial expressions of Sherlock towards the reader and Dr. Watson. Jay.’s way of shading and creation of an eerie atmosphere portrayed excellently within the manga showed understanding of grim scenes, from screen to manga that keeps readers and responders tense through certain pages. Dialogue and storytelling were not long and or short thus it does leave out minor details (color; smell or expression). Meanwhile, the interaction and development between protagonist; supporting characters and antagonist within each volume and chapter carries expression as found within the film series, together with its details in its background (graffiti; shoes and letter) they all are enhanced and amplifies the effect of the manga to relate with film to the book. Although issues do derive from the transfer of film to manga; book or text and that is the auditory, Sherlock as a film series uses musical queues and creates auditory uneasiness for its viewers; a great example would be when Sherlock plays his violin to the thought within his mind of the possibilities to who is behind the cases. Another concern is the POV (point of view) Sherlock has felt like his story is being narrated and told through the eyes of Dr. Watson thus when its creation to a manga-format it loses the POV of character and creates a more first person omniscient being within the room that is witnessing the cases done between the two.

Ultimately the manga delivers the audience the entertainment of the well-known Sherlock Holmes onto a book with its adaptation capturing what it could do flawlessly. In conclusion, the story stays the same with its original film series but adapted to manga format, with its unique ways Jay. showed how even manga adaptation of film series in an artwork format can be done beautifully balanced with its use of dialogue. As such the manga is certainly a worthwhile read even if you have or have not watched the film.
