Domestic na Kanojo review

I binged the whole manga in a couple of days after getting tired of waiting for a season two of the anime, that would probably not even come. I have very mixed feelings about this manga, so much so that I decided to write my very first review.

Domestic na Kanojo is the closest thing to a real realtionship in manga/anime form in my opinion. Don't get me wrong, it's by no means perfect, there are many others who do some things better... However the feelings I got after I finished this manga are something I don't think I've ever felt from an anime, manga or a movie.

Awkward and cringy in the beginning. Difficut but heartfelt and fullfilling in the middle. Ending how most probably thought it would... but DAMN, no one saw how we would get there...

I'm pretty sure that everyone who read the ending has pretty strong feelings about it one way or the other. I am not gonna spoil what happened or who "won". I am however gonna say that I feel like the manga had two distinct endings. The real one, that caused all the anger, confusion and sh*tstorm online and a semi-ending which most manga out there would do instead (around chapters 260-264), that I'm pretty sure a lot more people would have preffered to have as the real ending... myself included. The last 13 or so chapters felt really different to me. I'm not sure if the autor was pressed for time or somewhere along the way she was unsure how to get to the ending she wanted and that was her attempt to "set the story straigt", or if this was ALWAYS the plan. But whatever the reason, we got the ending that we got and regardless of how I feel about it, I cannot disregard the ejnoyment I got with the manga along the way.

There is one more thing I need to mention. The side characters were a blast and the story could never have been so enjoyable without them. Masaki Kobayashi and Ryuichi Nara in perticular were freacking gems!

I am not sure if I can recommend this manga, but even though I was frustrated and angry with the way it wrapped up, I do not regret reading it! So, if you want to experience something that will make you feel pretty much every emotion at some point in the run (and yes, that includes rage, confusion and regret) there are few other out there who do it better!

Hope this helps someone out there make their mind up about whether or not they should read Domestic na Kanajo!
