Satougashi no Dangan wa Uchinukenai: A Lollypop or A Bullet review

This is actually one of my favorite manga, hands down. I first came across it in 2012, in which I became enamored with the main protagonists. There was something about these girls that had me enraptured and really invested in their lives, the choices they face, and the struggles they will eventually have to overcome.

It sort of takes that "weird new girl" thing to a new level and I could not have possibly even fathomed the outcome of this little story. That was part of why it was so compelling. What comes next? What comes next? The beat of the manga is so subdued, but dear God, is it effective when it needs to be.

Besides some really expert storytelling, I found the art to be enjoyable. It has both a light hearted air and a strong, dark gravity that mirrors certain aspects of the plot. It definitely isn't your typical coming of age school girl story, and it won't make you forget that.

Honestly, I highly recommend this manga. It's fairly short and, personally, I find it very re-readable. I've given it a go three or four times now and find the pivotal moments still get me. When you need moment to enjoy some dark drama, this hits the spot.
