This is the book that I chose for my summer book report assignment. This is an alternate ending for L. But I love this ending.
The story is well linked with Death Note, the personality of L is thoroughly and clearly shown. Oh yes, the story is well plotted and amusing. Obviously, this is not the work of an amateur.
Haha, sorry for my poor organisation , I got so many ideas in my mind. Yes, the last scene, it impresses me the most .When L dials to US president, the threat that he made -- to secure the future of children or else he will mercilessly use the Death Note. That particular scene makes me cry. How innocence, how pure, how kind L is that he sacrifices himself for the sake of human beings over and over. Even in the end of his life, he never forgets about the mankind that he loves and trusts.

Even though L has to die young, he becomes the idea of hope and lives forever inside our heart. This is how I interpret the ending .
