Getsuyoubi kara Kataomoi review
This series revolves around a "prince" of the high school trying to take a girl away from her boyfriend. It was weak, annoying and I cared so little about the story that I couldn't even be bothered learning the name of the characters. I mainly continued reading because some part of me hoped that the story would get better. Sadly, I was wrong. Sometimes your first impressions upon reading the first chapter of a story are correct, which is very much the case with Getsuyoubi Kara Kataomoi. The only thing going for it is the artwork which was passable. I really cannot recommend it as
either an entry shoujo or otherwise.

Getsuyoubi kara Kataomoi review
I would not recommend taking your time to read this story. Just walk away. I know it's short, only six chapters, but many short manga are able to develop a story with plenty of engagement and character depth. Parts of it are cute but without any real character description it didn't move me.
I don't understand how the characters' relationship even starts. It's romance for the sake of romance. The characters go through the motions of love but I don't believe any of it. The love triangle feels contrived as well. Suzuki's other love interest, Tanaka, is supposed to seem like an obstacle for Ninomiya. He seems like a nice, pleasant guy though. Why shouldn't she date him instead of the lead? I enjoyed parts of this but I couldn't get into it. I kept thinking of how unrealistic it is. Shoujo manga is supposed to be a little bit of a fantasy, but fantasy should have substance. I do think the female lead is drawn in a cute way, though the male looks more typical. |
