MF Ghost review
This will be my first review so forgive me if its bad.
As a fan of Initial D this caught my eye for a while but i decided to give it a read as my 2nd ever manga im actually commited to. The story could use alot more improvement but i see a lot of potential for each character. It is also nice to hear about an old friend from back in the days and what happened to him. Art on the cars and environment is amazing but the characters sometimes look really off and derpy so to say. The story also takes an interesting concept of something that might happen one day with electric cars being produced and manufacturers like Tesla already making self driving cars the plot/story revolves around the fact that cars that run on fossil fuel might die out completly one day. Honestly i enjoyed the story alot it brought back alot of the Initial D vibes and has gives me something interesting to do while im in school waiting for my next class to start. Mosty of the time theres always action going on so it keeps you interested. Overall ill give this a 10 for now since im really hooked to the story so far and im looking forward to future chapters. |
MF Ghost review
Story:
Pretty boring overall Very slow progression through each chapter The interaction between each of the characters is repetitive. In one scene, two characters are doing something and in the next scene, another set of characters are doing the exact same thing. Things that should only take up couple pages end up taking multiple chapters Each chapter's events are easy to guess just by reading couple of the beginning pages Art: The cars and the environment look great. The characters look pretty bad, they do not look natural. It's the kind of style that may have passed in the 80s and the 90s, but would not pass today. The disconnect between the drawing levels of the cars and the characters make the art a bit weird Character: MC has the personality of wet cardboard. Typical underdog character who magically has godlike skills. Appears out of nowhere with the abilities to beat everyone in his way Overall: Just read Initial D again, it's better |
MF Ghost review
Coming from Initial D, I have high hopes for this series and for the most part it delivers.Itsuffers however from several issues
Story- 7, It ain't bad but the pacing is slow, with only three expected racess (based on what I have read) it makes sense for the pace to be slow but it just doesn't mesh well. Still though it follows the same recipe as Initial D Art- 7 It's nice, there's a lot of unnecessary ecchi elements in the form of the angels but its good, we also get to see older Keisuke and other initial d characters. Character- 6, there's so many characters to pay attention to but unlike Initial D each character does not get their own arc instead we get this jumbled mess of characters interacting all in one race. It's tough to remember the names of each character (I find it easier to remember the car they use) speaking of which the cars, they're all over the place from the exotic Ferrari to the Lotus Exige and of course the Jdm ones. Makes me wonder why are they racing on mountain roads if you have a damn Ferrari or Lambo. Enjoyment-7, It's good but if you're not an Initial D fan then you wouldn't really like this series. Overall-7 tldr: Pacing is slow, Art is nice, Characters are all over the place. It follows the Initial D formula but it doesn't feel as good |
MF Ghost review
Mf ghost was supposed to be the successor to Initial D, a manga and anime series that's really popular in Japan and around the world due to it's great races and ost (Obviously the ost part is just for the anime adaptation), however, it fails miserably in trying to take it's appeal further.
First, the characters are even weaker than the ones in Initial d. Great characters was never the strong point of the series but Mf ghost throws any bit of what Initial d had of good in the trash, most of the characters are flat and lack depth for the series to focus exclusively on Kanata, who also is extremely weak. Second of all, the races thenselves are nothing but wasted potential, mf ghost has a cast of characters that all could ve well invested on and make the races more exciting, similar to how first stage made it's characters change after racing takumi, and how that also changed a bit his view on racing, however, such thing is never used. Lastly, i'll end up praising what it does right, the art is absolutely amazing, if there's somethibg shigechi always gets right it without a doubt is cars, everything looks amazing and helps the races feel more exciting. To sum it all up, it's only worth it if you're a fan of Initial d because otherwise it's just a weak manga about cool looking cars and misused potential on it's characters and races. |
