This was a great manga and i'm extremely anticipating the rest of the chapters.
My enjoyment was 10.
It is a very action fast-paced story giving off a apocalyptic feeling like Psyren and Alive: Final Evolution with a toss up of love in it.
Kakeru a somewhat socially withdrawn gamer boy, playing and creating videos games to pass most of his time being bullied by his sisters, dreaming one day to be a hero that saves the damsel in distress like in a video game.
While his dad is working overseas his mom and sisters go off on vacation leaving him with free leisurely time for his games.
When fate knocks on his door literally, it is about "Prodigy's" people with supernatural powers that were kept in a secret lab and facility called the "Green House". Kakeru meets up with his old friend from a past he can't rememeberl and are being hunted by the "Farmers" that are trying to kill them and recover Joui because of his special abilities.
The art is extremely good, and I feel that anyone that liked Psyren or Alive: The Final Evolution will find this action packed with a touch of love turning the pages as easy as breathing no joke, this is one of my fav mangas now.

I first found this manga just browsing the isles at a bookstore. The cover looked cool and I'm into the whole psychics and supernatural genre, so I was like "Why not?" I didn't think it'd turn out to be this awesome.

Story: 9
I've heard of and read books about psychis escaping from an evil lab, but the story was much more than that. Psycho Busters added interesting twists and placed a huge amount of the plot on friendship and making relationships. How Kakeru was involved, how he was accepted, how the groups' bond and trust played a key factor in their saving the world- it was really enjoyable to read. I loved their powers and I loved how the story progressed. I think the story could have gone a bit more in detail at parts, and I believe that the mangaka could have written more experiences that the group went through, but as a whole, I thought it was really well written.

I honestly really love the art. I mean, I chose to read this book in the beginning because I liked the cover! When I read the manga, the first few pages of the first volume were pictures of girls showing off in bathing suits. I'm a girl, so I facepalmed. But the art was pretty so I continued. I'm glad I did. The different shots are interesting and I like how it adds to the story. The characters are nicely drawn as well. When I picked up the last volume at Borders, I looked at the cover and muffled a little fangirl squeal. The reason? I saw the cover art and noticed that the mangaka had improved. My favorite characters were even hotter, even if just a bit. I enjoyed watching the mangaka's art style grow throughout this series, and am looking forward to reading other's by both Akinari Nao and Yuya Aoki.

The characters were well drawn and I liked the friendship and interaction between them. I liked how we really got to know them and their pasts in different parts of the story and how we got to see them face up to their past and grow as a person. I disliked the demise of a certain character, Todoroki, but all in all I like them all. What can I say? I love Joi!! ^^ hehe...

From the perverted moments to the love confessions to the tearful pasts of the characters, this series, in my opinion, deserves a 9. The story had unexpected twists that made me wonder what was going to happen next, the art was beautifully drawn and led me to an interesting manga, and the characters were fun to watch and drew me into their own personal lives as they entertained me with the ongoings of a psychic. It was a wonderful ride and I will happily recommend Psycho Busters to any person who's looking for a great read.

Manga was very good. However, I thought that the series was a fast-paced and had a few 'awkward' moments. Such as one time the characters were talking and someone asked this random person: "why did you save them?" "because he looked like my dead brothers." and then the person said some really random stuff about how her brother always smiled, and some other stuff like that...
It was also really predictable, like you could tell when one character was going to save another one and when the main character was going to use his awesome power.
The art was enjoyable, nothing great but easy to look at.
I really enjoyed reading this too! It was fun, but it's not a series that I would really READ to get hooked on, just a series to read if I'm out of manga or to read something for fun.
Overall, I gave it an 8 because I felt like there could be some improvement, but I recommend this series for something to get something off your mind and to enjoy something, it really is a nice series!

I would consider this manga unique even though it falls into many very annoyingly stereotypical manga situations (i.e. wimpy protagonist who wants to save everybody). These negative attributes degrade the manga's originality but the overall story is still extraordinary.

One draw back of the manga is its characters. They are bland base models of typical characters.

On the other hand, the art is above average. The pages definitely rise above the standards of its genre, in which the art is usually secondary.

The story is where this manga truly shines. Now there are parts which are boring because of the stereotypical plot advances, but I can over look many of them. This is mostly due to the awesomeness of the main character's superpower. There are a lot of manga out there in which the protagonist has an amazing hidden superpower, but none of them (albeit Blue Exorcist) can compare to this. The main character's control of time creates many interesting events in the story. The other characters' powers are normal and not surprising in the least. The romance sucked in this manga. To be honest the main girl was freakin' hot. "Close but no cigars."

The romance between the protagonist and the girl was extremely superficial and I couldn't wait for it to be over. The girl was a total yandere. -.- That's as far as I will comment on.

Towards the end of the story there were many twists and turns to the plot that fell shot of my expectations. (i.e. Surprise! The good guy is actually evil; seen that.) Even worse is when the protagonist sacrifices himself to save the world. It was practically the same as the ending of Superior Cross. RANT TIME: Alright I can role with that, however the last chapter ruined it. It is a kind of epilogue in which the lives of all the characters were shown after they were altered. In the end the protagonist appears and everyone becomes all happy skipping down the street like in some fairy-tale. The characters' lives were altered extremely seeing as how they were reset by ten years and their conditions of living where entirely different. Therefor they should not be the same person. END OF RANT.

This manga was definitely different than the average manga. I would recommend it to people as an interesting read but would tell them not to have high expectations. They might like it but it won't be a favorite. 6/10.

Psycho Busters, a series with potential that I feel did not live up to it.

I happen to come across this series while reverse image searching a friend's profile picture and came across this, which happened to have the same author as Getbackers, a series that I had enjoyed as a child. Despite the terrible summary online, it can be fairly easy to assume that it was going to be a battle comic involving psychics thanks to the name and the cover art for the first volume.

It starts with your typical wimpy protagonist (which others comment about during the series) but that is not where the problems begin to start.
The story is rather plain with a rather generic problem that our protagonist, Takeru, needs to solve. But that's fine, the actual problem is how it felt pretty rushed where we being flooded with new characters and abilities rather quickly. In some cases, we may learn about a character and they may get developed within that very same chapter, but because of the poor pacing, it can feel rather out of place.
The characters were actually rather lackluster and could definitely been improved upon if given more time to them.
The art was not that great which is even worse when they kept on shoving in whatever fanservice they could for their 'shounen' demographic, as well as with it not seeming to be consistent at times in my opinion. But in no way is Akinari a poor artist, it just did not seem that great for this work.
A rather big element that I thought was done rather poorly is the romance. Yes, it was very obvious from the first chapter with how the mc leads into it, but I could not really believe the progression of it given the last minute backstory of Ayano.
Overall, my enjoyment of it was from the interesting concepts they had despite how overused it may be and the cheesiness of certain scenes along with how nice some of them were. I personally am a big fan of those.
One thing to note though would be the ending, it can be rather hit or miss depending on the reader's preference, although I will not exactly say why.
4/10 It felt like it could've done better if they took more time to develop the story and characters along with making sure the art was not choppy at times. But even though I did not enjoy it that much, I can still see it as a series that people might like.

Story 8
This isn't a cheesy, completely unrealistic, children's hour manga, don't worry. Psycho Busters mixes up the old "escaped secret lab experiments" premise by making the main character Kakeru just a normal guy that gets caught up with the escapees instead of an escapee himself. There are so many mysterious aspects of each of the characters and their powers but none of the mysteries are or become annoying or obvious like they do some times. The strength of this manga is that it has the perfect amount of romantic idealism that's overstressed and seems to ruin the realism and appeal of so many manga/anime. Psycho Busters does this by skirting, for the most part, self-ritious heroism. In this way it's a little serious but not dark and doesn't force comedy places to lighten the mood. But, of course, the best parts are the fights which flow naturally with the story and in themselves. Powers from spirit channeling and possession to chi and fire manipulation are used. No loud announcements of techniques and just enough strategy are used in the fights so that they don't look like drawn out games of chess with players shouting "knight to B-4!" but also aren't just people blindly charging each other.

Art 7
The art is satisfactory, though it can be a little confusing at times. It has very detailed body language and scenery, but is balanced with enough simplicity to keep frames uncongested and their focus obvious. Like most recent manga when compared to manga of the past, this art is much more realistic. At the same time, it is hard to tell a few characters apart due to the more tame modern anime facial structures and costumes combined with the lack of coloring that would otherwise help discriminate between characters. In the end I give the art a 8 because it works well to tell the story when seen in the context of the limitations of todays manga and art style.

Character 8
Though there's originally only one girl in the group of four companions that Kakeru joins, and even though just as much attention is given to the boys in the group as the chick, Psycho Busters grows to be a bit harem-like with multiple new chicks and uncharacteristically subtle ecchi that is more comic relief than fan service. The actions and pasts of almost all reoccurring characters are shown, giving them a very realistic and multidimensional feel.

Enjoyment 8
Good quality relationships and fights that are balanced and flow naturally = I like

If you have time, like this genre, and above are 14 years or so, then you know what I'm suggesting you do. If you don't, you probably wouldn't like this manga and I would suggest sticking with Doremon (I'm not nocking Doremon, just steering you to the right aisle).

This story was very good. the main character may seem like a wimp at first but as you read along you slowly see how strong he becomes.
The main character Kakeru is a very nice person that cares a lot about others instead of himself.
This is an amazing story and you should read it too!!!!!
