Though filled with despair, once she learns that her brother is also in this strange place, Yuri is determined to find him and escape.
However, she soon finds that there are more masked murderers in the area, anxious to terrorize their newfound victims and satiate their sickest desires, leaving Yuri to question if they will be able to make it out alive.

Tenkuu Shinpan review
so this manga is kinda garbage, and a lot of aspects are at fault for this. To kick off my first review ever I'm setting some ground rules, first this review will try and be as short as possible. Second, if you read this review and still enjoy Tenkuuu Shipan, good for you i hope you enjoy this cup of tea. and lastly, i dropped this manga for reasons that i will get into.
Story so this story kicks off with Yuri (Female lead) watching a guy get his head split by an ax swinging redneck with a smiling mask on. Sounds cool right? It was, but things change for the worse very quick. EVERYTHING IS EXPLAINED IN DETAIL, every fight, action, decision, and motivation is spelled out for us, murdering the horror aspect harder than the side characters. This left me skipping dialog boxes in a pathetic attempt to keep me from boredom which didn't work. Art everyone is well designed for their roles in the story, the sniper who is cooler than an ice cube is dressed like a lady slayer, and the school kids have their generic school uniforms but even the art isn't safe from this manga's mediocrity. I have a felling that when the author realized that when the horror aspect was ruined he just decided to pander to us with underage ecchi underwear shots, I took this as an insult to my intelligence and made me wonder what demographic they where trying to hit with this. characters this was the finial straw for me, there was no highlight here. Yuri the mc has this next level of a brother complex where she doesn't even want to have sex with him but actually worships him like a god.The brother himself is an edge lord, and you could throw me a bunch of character traits at me and i wouldn't be able to guess which person you were talking about. Enjoyment/overall if you didn't guess it by now, I didn't like this manga. I came in hoping that i could pull off horror but got lost somewhere between the constantly shown camel toes of highschool girls and what was interesting kills from an overwhelming evil force, but turned out to be a fix for someones gore fetish. I can't recommend this to anyone, however if you do find out that it does pull magic from its nether regions and turns it around by all means have fun, but I'm done here and i don't think I'll return. |

Don't go for the bad score, give this manga a try, it is really breathtaking!
I can't deny that it has clear defects, but still I think the experience of reading this manga is worth it. There are two flaws that stand out: the end, it doesn't represent how good the story went and the introduction of a villain who doesn't have an ounce of charisma. Regarding the first defect, I think the author did well not to take the most obvious path, but there was a lack of progress, the final fight was not as exciting as others and the characters did not have the emotion that was expected. About the second defect, I didn't really like this villain, but he served a purpose and was true to himself at all times, everything in this work and even he fits in with the plot. The characters, the construction of the world and the revelation of the mysteries for me are strong qualities of the work, especially the characters, the protagonist for me was the best female protagonist I have ever seen, including anime, she performs very well the duality of a protagonist who fights for the good of others and at the same time is someone dangerous, who grows exponentially while still being the same character you met in the beginning. There are 3 other characters that I got attached to, they don't need to be so well developed, but each scene they appear in has an impact, and they are just cool, really cool, really really cool. This story is a lot about it, cool characters doing cool things in extreme situations. This manga made me scream with euphoria at various times, it is stupidly fun and is a sensational work in terms of action, without a doubt it was marked as one of my favorite manga |
Tenkuu Shinpan review
I really enjoyed this work of art. The story is full of plot twists. It's not just an ordinary survival thing. If you are action/horror/suspense lover then I guarantee that you will enjoy this.
I'm not really a person who keeps eye on the art in manga or anime so I can't really comment on it. But I really did like the way they made the masks for the masked people. There are lots of characters but mainly supporting ones. There are bad and good people and you might fall in love with how brave some of them are. I was excepting it to be male protagonist since it was action and horror but it was actually a girl protagonist and that was a huge plus! I couldn't stop checking for more in this series and this is the first time I hope they will make anime adaption for this one. Note: It has "ecchi" genre but it is really light and not a reason to not read it. Hope you enjoy this as well! |
Tenkuu Shinpan review
Here we go the 1st non-Preliminary review.
Tl;Dr don't care about the mean score given above (7.42) at the time of this review. Give it a try. I started reading this one some years ago. I read about 10 chapters then I put on hold as it was a good marathon material and it was still publishing, and everyone knows the pain of waiting for the next week chapter in a thriller manga, also chapters were about 6-10 pages so those who read it week by week ended up giving a low score....probably dropping it. I was searching for a manga to read on my on-hold list some days ago and found it with "finished" status, so I gave it a chance and didn't regret it. The story is thrilling as it takes place in a strange realm and there's always something new to discover about its mechanism every chapter. I was reading about 10-20 chapters/break time. also, there's plenty of twists in the plot. The art is good and clean. The characters vary.. irrational, logical, good, evil and unpredictable ones...So there's always a character to root for even if you didn't like the mc. Really enjoyable series, you should give it a try. |
Tenkuu Shinpan review
I managed to finish the series. The fact that that's the first thought I had (it's finally finished!) is not a great sign for this manga. I went in to this series, excited for something new and interesting. And the premise is very intriguing. The mask system is neat and the sky-rise setting is certainly something I haven't ever seen before.
However... the concept is not enough to save the execution. I was sourly disappointed by this manga. The horror element died off very quickly after starting - probably within the first volume or two honestly. There feels like there's nothing at stake and you're taught early on to not grow attached to these one dimensional characters. The only element I even cared about by the end was Nise, to be truthful. The world-building is insane and baseless and the system is faulty to a crazy level. There is too much happening at the same time and the manga feels like it holds no real meaning or weight. Which would be fine, if it were a slice of life series. All in all, Tenkuu Shinpan takes itself a little too seriously. I would not recommend it unless you're alright with scattered content and boring, barely expressive characters. |
Tenkuu Shinpan review
I'll get straight to the point: This manga has moments where it does show uniqueness and it is a very easy read, but its plot is filled to the brim with clichés and awful characters.
That the manga is an 'easy read' is probably the best compliment I can give it because it seems the author really worked hard at that aspect. To begin, the manga drops you right immediately into the action. I do mean 'right immediately' -- from page 1. Other such manga would take at least a single chapter, if not two or three before the action takes place. It's understandable too as the author wants to establish setting, initial characterization (so readers can see the effects of the plot on the characters), and perhaps introduce some conflicts. Tenkuu Shinpan doesn’t do that. Instead, the action starts from the beginning and the characterization is introduced in small bits and pieces sprinkled throughout the chapters. The result of this is that the manga is an easy read – one can read ten chapters without thinking much at all -- but it also feels like the story is a secondhand thought. Which brings me to my main criticism: the clichés and awful characters. The main character, Yuri Honjou, fits every manga stereotype you can think of. First off, she’s a ‘brocon’ (i.e. the little sister who loves her big brother), she’s innocent and naïve, and 1/4 of any particular chapter is dedicated to showing off her panties and/or other assets. She’s also naively simple to the point where she describes a person she acknowledged as highly murderous (and who she witnessed murdering somebody) as ‘a nice person’ and started using the honorific ‘chan’ within moments of meeting her. Yet despite her naivety, innocence, and nonviolent nature, when she attains a gun, she becomes an incredible sharpshooter to the point where she can blow a weapon out of someone’s hand from a distance. This is just the tip of the iceberg of stereotypes that surrounds Yuri too. It’s also not limited to her as a character, but other characters and the plot as a whole tends to be pretty simple and one-dimensional. The mystery is brought on inelegantly and ‘clues’ are pretty much shoved into readers’ face. New characters also fall into known stereotypes and fall by the wayside pretty easily. So question: If this manga seems so filled with clichés, what are these ‘moments of uniqueness’ I referred to? Well, I actually mentioned one in passing -- the fact that she uses and continuously uses a gun. Manga, even survival manga, seems highly averse to its characters using weapons. Clubs, knives, and especially guns are either never used at all or dropped as soon as the threat is stopped. The heroes seem to depend on the act of physically restraining others or screaming 'stop!' in order to protect themselves. So the fact that the main hero picks up a gun, uses it, and continues to use it (among other weapons) is actually surprising. There are other things too, such as the fact that survival (even for the characters who typically survives) is genuinely extremely low, is also surprising. However, for the most part, Tenkuu Shinpan is a clichéd mess wherein the story seems to take a backseat to the action. What may be a great read that been ruined by the simplistic story and characters. Overall, I think there’s a good chance one could enjoy it if one could ignore those aspects, but for me, I just couldn’t. |
Tenkuu Shinpan review
Please note that this review is based on the first 5 chapters, and in turn I have no knowledge of further plot threads or if the quality of the story improves, however I doubt that it does.
Art: 8 So, lets start with the strong point of the series, the art. From the character designs to the excellent use of shadows and hard angles to give a sense of scale to the world, the art is a feast for the eyes. every detail is really well drawn, from each curve of the ladies, to the way the first villain's fat rolls around his sides, it is all done with great attention to detail and it makes this absolutely an amazing piece of art. Story/Character: 3 Now to the rest of it. The story is as half assed as it gets, girl transported to alternate wold without explanation and sudden murderous hijinks ensue. Granted, the story has potential, a unique setting with a truly interesting set of circumstances, but this is all dropped in favor of instant action and a main protagonist as generic as they come. from constant spouting of how determined she is, how much she loves her brother followed by screaming about it all being hopeless and repeating the determination speech over again. This series has horrid pacing, plot development, and easily one of the most uninteresting female protagonists Ive ever read. Enjoyment/Overall 4: So when it comes down to it, this is an "easy read" action horror story. So, if you are within the range of 13-16 you may enjoy the writing more than I have. However, the art is something that I have no doubt just about everyone will like, its visceral, well detailed, and belays the lack of writing quality to the point of being quite jarring. |
Tenkuu Shinpan review
It started off really well, created unique intriguing, surreal universe, but later wandered into the realm of fighting oriented narrative.
Every single character has to state his ambition/determination every other sentence. Every ten or fifteen chapters one of the characters gains totally unannounced and ridiculous abillity and is now 'Oh, he is now the most powerful one in this universe', just to create fake plot twist. The actual plot progresses really slowly with some of the chapters serving as fillers - there was a chapter in which there was only a single phone call in which one of the characters told the other, what happened in previous three chapters or so... i sheit you not. |
Tenkuu Shinpan review
Not really a review but few thoughts I want to say here about this.
SPOILERS!! It should've stayed the gory horror killing game to the end. Unsatisfactory ending. The Sniper Mask face reveal isn't that exciting after you learn that the author can't draw original faces. The biggest issue is if you showed someone how far Yuri had come from chapter 1 to the point before she obtained the power of "someone who became close to the god" they would say there's nothing wrong. But her development was in two or three days which is ridiculously ridiculous. Maybe it was the mental pressure of the situation she was in but two days are just absurd. The whole story is two or three days, man... all that action is worth a week at least... Some plot twists are too mainstream and predictable but some were shocking, I must admit that. Also, how was Kuon basically sticking to the Sniper Mask and just her behavior to the whole situation were enraging me sometimes. Yes her fangirling was relateable but there are people dying, Kim! Thankfully she realized that later on. Now the manga isn't "bad" as the number 4 is described. It was fairly good to average at the end. But I can't give this manga a 7/10. So 4/10 but it was good. But I'm excited for the anime release! I will definitely watch it, the beginning was great after all. |
