Souma Iwai

A down and out detective who is always looking for a case (to pay rent) and mooches off the local Kurata restaurant for food. It is there he meets Kanoko and discovers her ability to hear lies.

While Souma usually daydreams of becoming a famous and rich detective and his mindset constantly focused on food, he is at the same time is observant and able to read people well, making him a reliable detective.

After he and Kanoko find the missing child, Tarou, Souma asks Kanoko to stay and work with him as his assistant.
