Mitsu x Mitsu Drops review

If you're looking to enjoy some mindless smut, then this manga does a decent job. However, if you're looking for something with more substance - character development, story, etc. - don't waste your time; you're better off looking elsewhere.

Story 1/10
The poor excuse of a plot exists only to serve as a backdrop for sexual tension; don't expect any of the characters' actions to make any sense.

The storyline follows a typical master-servant route where the rich boy does as he pleases to the poor commoner girl. Renge Kai, the master, is "cold hearted" and shows his "affection" to the heroine, Yuzuru, through sexual harassment (which he dubs as punishment for a disobedient servant). When I say sexual harassment I don't mean lewd comments or anything remotely light natured. I'm talking outright molestation: fingering someone who is unwilling (but Kai justifies this by saying things like, "Your body likes it, so your words mean nothing." I'd like to see how that logic holds up in court).

Here's another cute example of the "romance" and "logic" you'll encounter in this series: when they finally have sex, Yuzuru says, "No," and he replies with "Even if you say 'No' I've wanted you for so long that I can't stop." I guess rape just isn't my idea of romance. Sorry.

Art 7/10
The art is decently drawn in typical shoujo-style. Nothing amazing, but it is better than most I've see out there.

Characters 1/10
I *hated* all the characters. I cannot emphasize this enough. There is not ONE character whom I enjoyed in this whole series. Here's a brief introduction to some of the ridiculously messed up characters:

Renge Kai: Justifies his actions through pretty words. Typical "bad playboy" who used to sleep around until he met Yuzuru. Never conveys his true intentions and intentionally misleads Yuzuru for the sake of suspense (plot device). Has difficulty conveying his emotions for whatever tragic reason (none at all).

Hagino Yuzuru: Dependent, weak, *stupid* heroine. Gets herself in situations where she is sexually assaulted by Kai's "friend," Yurioka Chihaya, because she wants to get a cheap ring that Kai gave her back (she never thinks to ask Kai for help). She's stupid enough to return to Yurioka the next day (because for some unfathomable reason, she wasn't able to just get the ring back the first day after being thoroughly assaulted), even though she knows Yurioka will do the same thing. They say that being sexually assaulted is not the victims fault, but in this case it's very much so her fault. She sets herself up for it over and over again throughout the manga (again, this is probably for the sake of the "story").

Yurioka Chihaya: Respects and likes Kai to the point of worship (some BL fan service) and therefore he makes Kai's life a living hell by harassing his love interest - that's shoujo logic for you.

Kayaka: A silly girl who "must have Kai no matter what" despite his lack of interest. She goes through ridiculous lengths to try to marry him (aka trying to rape him). Basically your typical obsessive, scheming shoujo-bitch. But some how, everyone ends up friends with her in the end. Again, typical shoujo logic where the heroine's heart is so big and forgiving and perfect (Mary-sue).

Enjoyment 4/10
All in all, despite the amoral, unrelatable characters and horrendous storyline, the smut is well drawn. If you don't take the manga seriously and ignore everything else, it can be enjoyable.
