Comic?: Kaneko Atsushi Extra Works review

The different chapters of Tattoo Girl(s) were published in a magazine only released once a year between 2006 and 20015. 10 years separates them but none of them looks unpolished or unfinished, there's not any big gap in skills like you could expect as his style is already fully accomplished from the first story. These 10 chapters only make up a bare 60 pages but Atsushi Kaneko's narration is really efficient and certainly doesn't pale in front of his other works like Bambi or Deathco and each girl presented manages to be really well fleshed out in this ridiculously short timespan.

In terms of genre, they're each different and there's enough variations to showcase Kaneko's talents. Some are experimentations with psychedelism, some present the typical badass psycho girl that he likes to draw, some are more down to earth and see women questioning the meaning of their existence, some deal with the supernatural (vampires in that case), some play out like Memento where each of her tattoo is here to remember events of her life.
This main theme of tattoos is finely exploited and female representation is just as good, it isn't caricatural in the least, it's full of punk energy and a really good time to read.

Fuck Forever is a regular lenth one-shot about a thief discovering the unusual and strange life of the inhabitant of the seemingly normal household he's trying to rob. It's a fun short story as well that questions apparences which are often just a front for wicked desires.
