Resumo
I am a knight. To be precise, I am the Church of the God of Light's Sun Knight. The Church of the God of Light worships and serves the God of Light, and theirs is one of the three largest religions on this continent. As the whole continent knows, the Church of the God of Light has twelve holy knights and each one has his own unique personality and features. To be the Sun Knight is to have shining golden hair, sky blue eyes, a compassionate nature, and a brilliant smile.
"The benevolent God of Light will forgive your sins."
I must have said that line at least a million times in my time as the Sun Knight. However, the greatest wish in my life is to be able to stand before the entire continent and roar, "Damn your 'the whole continent knows'! This Sun Knight just doesn't feel like smiling! I just don't want to forgive these human trashes! I just want to pepper my sentences with 'f***'!"
Unfortunately, even to this day, I continue to wear a smile as I say, "The benevolent God of Light will forgive your sins."

The Legend of the Sun Knight review
Although it isn't tagged as comedy, I think any one who reads it will agree that it is.
For staters, the art is probably some of the best I've seen and quite different from this author's other work, 1/2 Prince. If your looking for a manga similar to that, I wouldn't recommend reading this. Most of the characters have outer facades they work hard on maintaining. Why? Because as a guardian/knight, they each have "images" to keep. The main protagonist is Creus Sun, the Sun knight. Usually, it's quite hard to place good sarcasm in manga but here, it's very, very amusing. As for the plot, because of it's supernatural elements and conspiracies *ahem*, there are a few points that can be misleading which, of course, keeps it interesting especially with the humorous overtones. If your looking for a sarcastic and witty manga, look no further and give this manga I try. It's a bit slow on updating but also one of the few manga I don't mind reading over and over again =D WARNING: If your overly-religous, then do NOT read this manga. It doesn't necessarily mock religion but you might find it offensive it some ways. If you still insist on reading it, I won't (or rather can't) stop you but hey, I warned you. |
The Legend of the Sun Knight review
Its a really good read and I recommend to anyone who enjoys comedy and entertaining. The characters are all memorable, the art style is beautiful, story is simple yet original, and overall it's a great comedy.
Summary: As far as the public knows, the 12 Knights remain strong to their King that has been passed down throughout generations. In reality, every generation of the knights have their own individual personalities that they must keep hidden, even from other knights if they so desire. Our main character Sun Knight has an angel-like facade, but he really is closer to a demon-like personality. |
The Legend of the Sun Knight review
I don't understand how so many people can enjoy this. He just goes around putting on a false face while thinking about how much he hates being the Sun Knight. Maybe i didn't get into the series enough or reading the novel would have helped but i couldn't take anymore of the dialogue the author used. Honestly just bored me out of my mind. As i am not one to judge to harshly i usually rate high even if i didn't like it that much, but for this i would never recommend it to you as it was honestly a waste of my team
to even read the first couple of chapters. The artwork was fine, but the story line just wasn't well made or enticing to me. I was tired of it by the second chapter but i pushed myself saying maybe it will be better. It never did. I don't understand why this is so highly rated as i think it's boring. Only think i happened to like was the fact that they portrayed the Sun Knight how i think heroes really are, fed up with the acting they have to do in front of others and annoyed with their daily lives. If someone ever manages to read this and can tell me it gets better then i'll go back and finish this off and rewrite my review but this could very well be an impossible challenge you'll never want to risk
Proceed with caution as you are about to read a boring and uninteresting Manhua and may want to throw up. |
The Legend of the Sun Knight review
The setup of the story is much like other Chinese (internet) fantasy novels, with multitudes of races, weapons, and classes that we are familiar with from games and high fantasy. However, this novel really stands apart from the typical ones. This isn't a story where the protagonist slowly builds up his strength, and saves the world in the end. The narrative focuses much more on relationship between the numerous main characters, and how characters grow from their experiences, even though they do end up saving the world in the end.
By just reading the first chapter, one will see that the author has a talent for being funny. The source of endless laughter is, of course, the Sun Knight, who despite his outward appearance of being kind, compassionate, and elegant, are actually the exact opposite inside. He complains, swears, curses, and always plans his schemes perfectly. Yet, he remains likable, and a genuinely charming person. However, there are two regrettable things for this novel. First, as far as I see, there is no insert art for this novel. Second, there is no (or very little) romance for the Sun Knight. For me at least, a good romance subplot always adds the spice on the cream. Legend of Sun Knight starts with a strong arc that instantly demands readers attention, slowly build up, and finish on a satisfactory and not cliched note. In this days and age where excessive fan-service and over-powered male leads are so rampant even in light novels, Legend of Sun Knight proves that a good novel can be written without relying on it. Overall: 9.5/10 |
The Legend of the Sun Knight review
I encountered this novel right after I finished reading the novel counterpart of 1/2 Prince manhua (at www.princerevolution.org). And I started reading it, and all hail, I liked it! The story is different from what I usually read, the typical shojo mangas... but I was surprised when I was hooked by this story until I can't get enough!
This is freakin' hilarious. So if you want to laugh, go read this one. The main character, the Sun Knight, has this split personality (the one he IS required to do and say being the Sun Knight, and his hidden personality, the one he truly feels). Because of that, one will laugh at his quirks and all his scheming plots. And the art is good too. Though, one may say that they looked like girly boys, with their hairs long and perfect features, a bishie is still a bishie. And they are really eye-candies. Story-wise, it has a good plot and the suspense will make you long for more chapters. Overall, this is a great read! And even though you are not novel-lover, you prefer the manhua better, you will really pick the novel and read on afterwards just because you want to know more. (when I read the manhua at mangafox, chapter 10 is the latest. On the novel counterpart, chapter 33. :D So much win! ♥) |
The Legend of the Sun Knight review
The sun knight is a forgiving person (as the continent knows)but the truth is he is not. His smile may looked dazzling to you but who knows ? he might be trying to think of ways to get rid of you.
the other knights have their own likable personalities . Why is my rating 10? -Because it is so funny especially the sun knight -Creus/Grishia is a powerful magician but doesn't know how to use a sword even thought he's a knight. -All the characters have their own looks and personalities and their names are easy to remember ex. Sun, Storm, Judge - the characters are all cute cool and funny -their personalities are not really what 'the whole country knows' but they are trying there best to live up to there name, especially the sun knight. JUST READ IT PS: this is my first review |
The Legend of the Sun Knight review
Introduction:
Basically, Legend of the Sun Knight is a story that reveals the secret daily life of being a Holy Knight. The funniest thing about the Holy Knights is that, all 12 of them have their own 'predestined' character which they have to uphold in front of people. For example, the Sun Knight SHOULD BE compassionate, sympathetic, always smiling, elegant, has blond hair, blue eyes and fair skin. But in truth, except for the point regarding his appearance, the Sun Knight is the exact opposite of all the attributes. Using the first person narrative, the novel and the manhwa give readers access to the Sun Knight's most secret inner thoughts, which are practically all curses, complaints and schemes. Story: The story takes a few chapters to build up. The beginning is admittedly rather bland and boring as it's basically all introductions - introducing the continent, the country, the religion, the church, the holy knights... But once these are over, it gets really interesting. Right now the manhwa has only covered the first novel, but having completed the entire novel series, I guarantee it's going to get way way way way better. The plot twists will become more and more unpredictable and one can't help but wonder how on earth did the author come up with such crazy and shocking ideas. Art: The first volume (manhwa) went a bit too far with the glittering effect and chibis, but luckily the artist toned them down considerable later. The story is full of bishies, so if you're looking for a treat for your eyes, LSK is your choice. Character: This is one of the strongest points of LSK. The Sun Knight alone is fascinating enough. Watching him struggling to put on a facade every day while venting his anger in hilarious ways is funny, but that's not all there is to him. As the story progresses, you will realise how intelligent and unfathomable he really is. He is an expert at using (often dirty) schemes to achieve his aims, but ultimately he is a kind and extremely loyal person. Simply put, he is a wonderful friend and a horrible enemy to have. As for the other characters, each of them has their own quirks, but all of them (except the old King) are charming folks. Enjoyment: If you have read 1/2 Prince, you'll know how humorous the author is. Reading LSK will bring you much joy and laughter. Though only in later volumes, when the story gets more serious, can readers feel the full emotional impact that the story has. Overall: The manhwa of Legend of Sun Knight has a lot of potential, while the novel is simply amazing. If you feel bored after reading the first few chapters, don't be so quick to judge it yet. Carry on and you'll begin to see the charms of LSK. Just be patient. |
