Kanojo, Okarishimasu review
This is my first review. I've read up to the most recent chapter (180) and I've come to appreciate the uncomfortable parts where you scream at the protagonist to "JUST DO THIS" but that's part of the character development. A lot of people comment on this manga as being an interesting concept but extremely pathetic. BUT THAT'S GOOD! WE RARELY SEE PATHETIC PEOPLE, FINALLY A 20 YR OLD VIRGIN WITH INSECURITIES TRYING TO DATE SOMEONE OUT OF HIS LEAGUE THAT ALSO HAS INSECURITIES. The manga is the story of a boy, becoming a more mature boy, and a professional girl slowly breaking down the walls around her heart.

Story (8): I gotta admit, this manga does a great job creating an original theme of the Rent-a-GF app and twisting it with just funny stuff. And it's pretty emotionally deep. Chizuru closes herself off to everyone to pursue her dream of acting. It's her dream to pursue acting for family and that's awesome. On top of that she has a part time job which conflicts with her relationship with Kazuya yet Kazuya still pursues her. In order to maintain Kazuya's dignity of "renting a gf" and bragging about Chizuru being his "real gf" to his friends and fam, there's a lot of funny ways they maneuver thro life. Without going into much detail, there's blackmailing, intense convos with exes, and big drama. I did find it stupid; however, how Kazuya doesn't give up on Chizuru. It's unrealistic in the fact that almost anyone would take a hint and stop pursuing this girl, but what's interesting is that Kazuya continues to pursue her.

Art (10): Very pretty. All girls are best girls. The detail of the backgrounds are superb, the clothing of each person is ridiculously detailed, and the art expresses lots of emotion. The art clearly expresses happiness, sadness, empathy, and awkwardness. I cried plenty of times during the crying scenes, and smiled plenty of times during the cheerful moments.

Characters (9): I love the characters! We have Mimi, the ex gf that ruins everything. She' extremely annoying, childish, and selfish. A lot of reviewers hate her and make the overall score lower, but that's her job as a character! She always secretive and is 2-faced. We have Ruka, the blackmailing trial gf that is dummy cute and in high school. She's also childish, annoying, and a tad selfish but she does it for good reason. Lots of people say she isn't a necessary token for Kazuya's development and interferes a lot with Kazuya x Chizuru; and that's her job! Makes the manga pretty interesting honestly with her in the way. Chizuru is this serious, professional, talented soon to be famous actress with lots of emotional insecurities. Finally, a girl with insecurities and emotional scars! She may appear as a blank slate at first, but her character development is pretty wild. Lastly, Kazuya is a horny, silly, and average college kid that just wants a gf. His character development is amazing; starting out as an immature boy. I was screaming at the manga saying "JUST STAND UP FOR YOURSELF!" or "PLEASE JUST DO IT, DO THE THING" and eventually matures later on to become a strapping young man. People say this manga made them feel uncomfortable in the first 5 chapters; that means the author did a GREAT job expressing Kazuya's pathetic side!

Overall (8): There's dull spots in the manga, times where the author flushes out an arc for too long, times where you say "Geez this could be reduced to like one panel instead of 20" but the OVERWHELMING majority of the manga is funny, original, and interesting! I loved the emotion expressed throughout the manga. I loved the annoying characters interfering with crap. It's pretty grounded in reality with some sprinkles of exaggeration that make this manga enjoyable. If you're annoyed, uncomfortable, happy, smiling, crying, or screaming at people to do something, then the manga is doing a great job portraying what the author is expressing! This manga is very good at expressing emotion and drama.

Kanojo, Okarishimasu review
Ahhhh yes, you might have read my review on the anime for this anime adaptation. I had been previously written a review on the anime for how it held my interests and how they MC was a huge and massive simp. If you want to read this manga, I have to let you know, this shit, is being dragged on, so much. By the time I am writing this, chapter 177 is out. I started reading this manga probably around when chapter 135 ish was coming out. Holy shit, this is a rollercoaster of just, I don't even know. Every time you thing something is going to happen, NOPE. It does not. I love this manga even though it is such a pain in the ass to wait for a week to read one chapter about how a simp can not bring up the feelings to confess. Why, just why is it being dragged on so long. Whatever, if you want to read it is up to you, but if you want my honest advice, wait another 3 years until this manga is finally done so then you do not have to wait every week like I am doing. Please do not make the mistakes I did.

Now that is out of the way, the actual review so far.

The story is pretty simple for a romcom, the guy wants to get with the girl but with this manga the twist is that he rents her out. 7/10

The art is not bad, but not the best I have seen. It is somewhat average. 7/10

The character is a simp that can not confess his feelings. Sound familiar? What is worse is that he is so down bad that he is renting out a girlfriend. But honestly, Chizuru low-key fine so I do not blame him. But how do you get so down bad in the first place, I do not understand how you get that down bad in the first place. Like I don't know, your in college just like talk to some people. 6/10

This is a very controversial thing for me. Enjoyment. I hate this manga but at the same time I want to see what happens. I have to give it to the author, he might be dragging this shit on for too long but at least he found a way to keep people like me reading the manga when it comes out every week. 8/10

Overall I gave it a 7 out of 10.

Listen, this is a good manga, but like please wait until it is finished. Who knows, maybe when you read this it will be finished and yes, I definitely recommend it. But if you are stuck in the past like me and the manga is not finished, just wait. I guarantee you. In the end it is truly up to you if you want to read it now when it is not finished or you have the luxury of reading it when it is done. The choice is yours my friend. Thank you for listening to me rant about this and yeah, hope you enjoy the manga if you decide to read it.

Kanojo, Okarishimasu review
You know? This manga isn´t THAT bad as some people says

The summary is, if you liked Nisekoi you´d probably enjoy this Manga. I can´t say that is good, but it isn´t horrible. It gets better.

-------------------------
First of all i´ll be writting about it´s bad things (that yeah, there are a lot)

The first and biggest problem of this manga is his Main Character.
He is... the same character that we already saw before in the 99% of Harem/ecchi mangas. He´s dumb, he makes absolutly every circunstance worse by acting/saying something out of place, also he´s bit creepy at times...

The typical Mc that will be making you scream at the pages "Why in the actually fuck are you handling this SO BAD?! You could like, fix everything with a normal talk like a normal person!" (This makes the plot advance desperately slow at points, and is so tedious to read.)

Beside that, i can´t say that there isn´t a couple of good characters, but the most part of them are just boring.

Just a bunch of top models falling in love with a stupid donkey

And even with that, and maybe because i can relate to some of it´s situations, i´m enjoying it.

The relationshio between Mc and the other Main Character, Chizuru, is interesting imo. Their relation developing (even if it´s sloooooow) is more natural that a lot of other´s relationships in other mangas. You can´t say that the romance came out of no where. (i have to say that in recent chapters, the Mc is getting some developing and is starting to be less annoying, but stills acting like a dumbass)

The history is dumb, every situation is a cliche of other mangas, but it might make you smile at points.

It´s Art is quite good, nothing that we haven´t saw before, but it´ll make you spend 2 or 3 minutes looking at it´s best pannels. The character desing isn´t bad neihter, i can see a lot of people using Chizuru as profile pic after it´s anime airs during the next summer.

So yeah, as i said nothing special nor memorable but personaly i´m enjoying it as just another ecchi/harem manga. Definetly not the worst i´ve read

Kanojo, Okarishimasu review
tl;dr under "Overall", at the very end of this review if you want a quick review, but I'll try to be as detailed as I can.

Story - 6

Without revealing too much, all I can say is that the ENTIRE story between Chizuru and Kazuya kicked off from a completely avoidable situation, which is a huge minus point for this manga's story. The relationship between these two characters could've been handled with a lot more common sense. The two can still be invested in each other, and drama can still be created around the whole rental girlfriend gig, all without having to lie to their respective families.

Another minus for this manga's story is Kazuya constantly digging his own grave in many social situations. I honestly can't fault the people who dropped the manga after only the first few chapters- Kazuya's antics are beyond UNBEARABLE. This has been a source of many complaints about the manga, and for good reason- of all stock romcom MCs I've seen, Kazuya is easily one of the worst to follow. An awkward MC is fine, desperation can be funny and understandable, trying to seek emotional support from a rental girlfriend is perfectly alright, having no indoor voice has its appeal I guess (though I'm personally not a fan of such characters). But in Kazuya's case, he puts himself in hot water so many times it's as if he is completely devoid of common sense. Sometimes these antics come at the expense of some people around him too, especially Chizuru. It is absolutely infuriating and unacceptable to see a male lead this pathetic. Even moreso when all of these borderline social suicides are what complicates the situation between Chizuru and Kazuya, so much that it's almost getting out of their hands.

The story does pick up later on near the end of the first half (of 148 chapters as of the time of this review's writing), and Kazuya eventually learns to have some backbone for once. As more and more characters enter the spotlight, Kazuya starts showing real commitment into whatever he does, and this nicely segues off into REAL drama being worth invested in. The current movie crowdfunding arc is a big plus point for this manga, it is worlds apart from all the preceding events in the story in terms of quality and impact.

There is real drama and real character development later in the story, however I still can't shake off the dread I had, going through the first couple of volumes of the manga. Also, pacing does not feel unnatural although the plot is mostly kept on edge, "downtimes" where the the characters just settle down and enjoy themselves are few and far between.

Art - 10

Art is very refined and high quality, art style is exactly what you'd expect from a popular romcom manga. There's a fair share of high-effort "beauty" panels, comedic reaction faces, and everything in between. Easily one of the manga's strongest points.

Characters - 7

All the leading girls are characters worth being invested in - the ideal girl Chizuru, the absurdly stubborn Ruka, the shy and quiet Sumi, Yaemori who's a huge breath of fresh air, and last but DEFINITELY not the least, Mami the spiteful ex-girlfriend who never appreciated what she had until she lost Kazuya. The fight for Kazuya's heart here is being played kinda straight here among some of these girls, which is good because many people are sick and tired of the whole "will he, won't she" shtick plaguing many romcoms of this generation, and for good reason. I don't think this manga is made with the intention of a harem ending because of the high stakes and the fierce competition between the girls, so if you're looking for a harem then this manga isn't for you.

Supporting cast also shines in their own way - Kibe and Kuri, bros for life who stick with Kazuya through thick and thin. Umi, whose role in the story can be spoiler territory but I'll say this much: he represents a very sad but real possibility that sometimes the ideal girl is indeed out of reach for an average person like Kazuya. It's good to see the author not messing around and having these "threatening" presence in the story, in both Mami and Umi.

Speaking of Kazuya, I would've given this manga's characters a better score if it wasn't for him. Most of the story's complications can be traced back to his flaws as a character - his awkwardness, desperation, brashness, how quick he is to misunderstand things, overall simp energy... to his credit, he does exhibit real character development later in the story, but his initial state as a character makes the beginning of the manga a huge huge HUGE slog to go through. There exist examples of well-written "loser" MCs in this media but even with his lategame character development I don't think I would consider Kazuya one of them, I'd probably say the opposite even. The embarrassments he continually forces himself into in the beginning of the story is a huge blight in an otherwise entertaining manga.

Overall - 7

Good manga, memorable waifus, popcorn worthy drama. The first few volumes are an entirely new circle of hell of its own though, so prepare yourself.

Kanojo, Okarishimasu review
May contain a little spoiler:

Honestly I don't get why Mizuhara just won't accept the fact that she has feelings for Kazuya, why does she need to wear an armor just to keep things professional I don't get it. I know that being a rental girlfriend means that you need to keep things professional but I don't get why she just won't accept her feelings, its like she doesn't want to be in a relationship at all. I read all the chapters of the manga and I feel like there is no character development at all, In Chapter 165 did she forget that she cried in Kazuya's arms in Chapter 164 because her grandmother died, did she forget that Kazuya is the one who helped her create the movie that she starred in because her mother wants to see her in the big screen. But still in Chapter 165 she gives Kazuya the cold shoulder and she just forget everything that happened to them on their last date, like what the heck is going on, why did she just do that to him like everything that happened on their last date never happened at all. Like did she forgot that Kazuya was the one who saved him when she fell off the Ferry, even though Kazuya always think that his worthless and Mizuahara is some kind of "goddess" he still thinks that he can be a better version of himself because of her. Kazuya jumped off the Ferry on his own free will even though he thinks of himself as "worthless" because he just can't leave Mizuhara to drown in the ocean. Did she forgot all of that in latest Chapter of the Manga which is Chapter 166?? Like girl he jumped off the Ferry to save you, he did everything he could so that you can make your movie, he was the one who comforted you when your grandmother died no one else did that but Kazuya because he cares for you and he loves you. I know that in one of the Chapter when Mizuhara asked if he has feelings for her Kazuya denied it, I get why did Kazuya denied his feelings for her, because he is not ready to say his feelings for her yet because he thinks that she is dating Umi, that's why he denied his feelings. In my opinion I actually think that Kazuya needs to give Ruka a chance, even though I know that she only gives the reason her "heartbeat condition" that every time she's with Kazuya her heartbeat rate rises. But still whatever her reason is I can see that throughout the manga she develops feelings for Kazuya and she accept those feelings, unlike Mizuhara who just ignores them. And I don't get Mizuhara, she easily opens up to people like Umi, but she always has her guard up when she's with Kazuya, like why won't you open up to him??

Kanojo, Okarishimasu review
So there's this new manga that recently caught my attention called "Kanojo, Okarishimasu", or in English: "I Want to Borrow a Girlfriend". What is this about? Quite frankly, it's literally what the title says. The main character is literally paying to be a sugar daddy to set up dates with a girl that sells her time for dating services. Controversial topic? Let's see.

Kanojo, Okarishimasu is a shonen romance manga serialized in one of the most popular shonen manga magazines - Weekly Shonen Magazine. Written and drawn by Reiji Miyajima, it competes directly with other romance titles in the magazine like Domestic Girlfriend, Boarding School Juliet, and 5-toubun no Hanayome. It sells decently, but not as much as its competitors and I'm sure you can guess why.

Paying for dating and sex services has always been a controversial topic among the dating community. The majority of people hold the firm belief that you can't "pay" for love, which is true, but the reason why these kinks exists is because they are substitutes for real relationships.

Our protagonist, Kazuya Kinoshita is a freshman college student who was recently dumped by his ex. Looking to relieve himself of his breakup, he seeks solace in a rental girlfriend app called "Diamond". There, he comes across one of the top-ranked rental girlfriends named Chizuru Ichinose (she uses a different last name for her Diamond profile for privacy purposes). And the romantic comedy shenanigans go from there.

Frankly, if I were to compare this manga to its competitors, I wouldn't say it's any different. Its romantic tension is derived from ridiculous coincidences that force the two main romantic interests to be in the vicinity of each other, which is what normally captures readers since this is next to improbable in real life. In fact, I would say the closest comparison in my opinion would be Nisekoi - both the romantic love interests are pressured to fake their relationship due to family pressure.

So let's move on to the juicy stuff: the main criticism of this manga. The premise. Kazuya is like any other shonen romance main character; spineless, unmanly, and not willing to take risks which is what makes it easy for the author to continue writing chapters without anything significant happening. However, Kazuya gets a lot more criticism that other main characters not because he's indecisive, but simply because of the fact that the romance revolves around a sugar daddy service. I'm not going to go into depth about the morals of this premise but I will say: if this romance was based off any other setting, it would be much less criticized and more popular.

The reason why I absolutely love this manga though, is because the author had the guts to use a premise that is highly controversial, and create a semi-realistic romance story out of it. Everything in this manga is extremely well done, including the characters and plot contrary to popular belief. If you treat this premise like you're not offended just by the fact that it's controversial, then you will have an insanely fun time reading this if you self-insert as Kazuya.

The story doesn't exactly portray Kazuya as a bad person even though he does stupid things you would expect from a romance lead. He is in fact, quite genuine with what he desires and tries to make things right regardless of the outcome. In fact, he is so relatable if you've been through romantic troubles that it's insanely easy to self-insert into him. The only difference is that he's a realistic protagonist that gets into unrealistic situations, which makes it the perfect story to enjoy as long as you don't have a problem with the premise.

If you would like to read a manga where the setting and characters try to take a risk to do something different, then this is definitely the manga for you. If you like to stick to vanilla manga and don't like reading anything that might offend your morals and values, then don't read this. However I would still like everyone to be more open-minded and give this manga a shot, because you will never discover anything new if you only stick to what you're comfortable with.

Kanojo, Okarishimasu review
This review is coming from someone who has watched the first 3 episodes of Kanojo, Okarishimasu’s anime adaptation and thought the concept was really cool, so he binged all the chapters over 2 days and decided that-

This. Manga. Sucks.

Spoilers will follow. TLDR at the bottom.

__________

Art: 7/10. Art is preference, don’t think too much about this. It’s not the greatest, but it’s not the worst unless you’re giving the less detailed, comedic panels a lot more weight than they should have.

__________

Character: 2/10.

Kazuya: The majority of the reviews on here either portray Kazuya is a spineless, cowardly, indecisive, unintelligent idiot or as someone who’s been traumatized by his first girlfriend (now his ex) and is struggling to decide what he really wants. Both sides are valid, but unfortunately, Kazuya has been indecisive for the past 150 chapters and shown almost nonexistent levels of growth throughout the series. On dates in the most recent chapters, Kazuya still thinks ‘what’s a beauty like her doing with someone like me’, which is still what he thought back in the initial chapters. One can argue that this is because Kazuya has very low amounts of self-esteem and doesn’t think of himself as having much value, but it’s hard to believe that Kazuya doesn’t think of himself as someone who has gained some value throughout the story. He’s also still a bit too strangely perverted, considering he’s know these girls over the course of a year. But whatever, there’s an ecchi tag.

Chizuru: Blatantly and unapologetically the story’s heroine. Chizuru is probably the most well-developed character in the series, but also like Kazuya, is completely indecisive as to whether or not she likes Kazuya. The issue with her character is that very early on and I mean by chapter 20, it’s clear that Chizuru does have some feelings for Kazuya, but it takes her much too long to address those feelings. Her intelligence also comes under question because Chizuru is portrayed as a very intelligent girl, but somehow she never makes the connection that she’s leading him on or even suspects that just because he proclaimed to not have feelings for her, even though she’s aware that he has a problem with compulsive lying to avoid conflict.

Ruka: Ruka is Chizuru’s rival in love and by far the best girl in the series. Unlike Chizuru, Ruka constantly tries to advance her relationship with Kazuya and the parts with her in the story are typically the most interesting ones and she forcibly tries to make herself known as Kazuya’s girlfriend. Unfortunately, due to the story’s structure, Ruka is ultimately fated to lose. It’s fine for it to be predetermined that Chizuru is the story’s winner, but it honestly feels like the author barely gave Ruka enough moments to outshine Chizuru and that really, she’s just warming the bench for Chizuru.

Mami: Terrible character. She’s initially portrayed to be the ‘heartless ex-GF’ character that doesn’t want Kazuya to get over her by scheming to try to break up Chizuru/Kazuya but later on in the series, there’s a couple scenes that possibly indicate that she might have regretted breaking up with him, but none of these are explored in any meaningful way and honestly contradict how she’s written.

Sumi: Pointless character. Sumi is the last addition to the female ensemble that is in love with Kazuya. Admittedly, Sumi’s cute and her chapters are fun to read. But Sumi could be removed from the manga and the readers wouldn’t notice because she and her chapters have almost 0 relation to the main plot, if there even is one. In 150 chapters, we also know nothing about Sumi’s background before Kazuya and the reason for her shyness, just so you have an idea of how pointless her character is.

Most of the other male characters (including the latest e-girl addition of Mini) are irrelevant and practically only serve to help move Kazuya forward and don’t really have anything interesting in regards to themselves.

__________

Story: 8/10 for the first 50 chapters. 2/10 for the remainder.

I’m not going to discuss the rental girlfriend premise nor the morality of it because it’s been overdone. I think it’s fine and simply something you’ll have to accept as a reader.

Up until roughly chapter 45, I thought the story was pretty solid and would’ve given it an 8/10 because there appeared to be meaningful progression in all of the arcs with the most prominent female characters were introduced and initial relationships being established.

However, what follows for the next 60 chapters might as well not have even existed. It’s also worth noting that a year passes by in narration in the manga, but nothing of note happens throughout this year, which is absolutely mind-boggling considering that Ruka was introduced before this timeskip and seemingly no progression between Kazuya, Chizuru, and Ruka occurred at all? None of the interpersonal relationships advance in the slightest?

Following chapter 100, we get what can be considered the manga’s main arc and by that, the arc that has the most repercussions, referred to by the characters constantly and is still a driving force 50 chapters later. (In fact, just to prove my earlier point on how useless of a character Sumi is, Sumi is almost entirely irrelevant in this arc). However, although this arc is paced relatively well, there is still nonexistent levels of progression between the main characters.

In fact, as of when this review was written, around chapter 149, neither Kazuya nor Chizuru have confessed their feelings for each other, but only admitted that they might have feelings for the other when pressured by external parties. In 3 years, there hasn’t even been so much as an honest confession between the two? And sure, you can say ‘oh, but Kazuya’s doing so much for Chizuru, clearly she knows it’s because he has a thing for her’, but I’m not even certain about that. Kazuya seems to be barely on her mind and it seems that Chizuru barely thinks deeper as to Kazuya’s intentions as to why he does so much for her.

Oh, and as for actual romance in this manga? There is painfully, and I mean PAINFULLY, low amounts of it. Sure, Kazuya goes on a lot of ‘dates’ with the other women in this manga, but none of these dates really amount to much. And also, the amount of compulsive lying that goes on in this manga is just… ugh.

__________

Enjoyment: 3/10. I enjoyed this manga in the first 50 chapters significantly more than the following 100 chapters. Take from that what you will.

Overall & TLDR: Manga is a complete mess, terribly paced, boring/inconsistent characters that never progress meaningfully. A melodrama that isn’t worth your time unless you really have nothing better to do. If you must, read the first 50 chapters or so then drop it, because it doesn’t get better from there. 3/10.

Kanojo, Okarishimasu review
A lotta people have been hating on this manga AND anime, and most of the times it was cause of the MC, and I gotta say I understand where they're coming from but unlike the anime, in the manga Kazuta has some really good character development. His character and his motives become really defined. And as for the other characters in the story: I think it goes without saying that, Mizuhara is probably best girl of the year, and a main reason I say that is because she has all the characteristics that the usual best girl of a series has but the only difference between her and a lot of other best girls in the harems I've seen is that her character is way more realistic. While she does fit in to the Tsundere trope, you can't deny that she doesn't get pissed off for petty reasons unlike most Tsunderes. She gets mad at perfectly sensible scenarios. And not to mention Mami, Miyajima Reji has done an amazing job in making it so easy to select who the worst girl of the story is. And the collective hate that Mami gets just confirms that fact. And when focusing on Sumi's character, Reji played a great move here, my reasoning behind that being, Sumi was introuced in the story at a time where Kazuya well, was in deep shit. Mami was just on the verge of finding out about Chizuru and Ruka was consistently monitoring Kazuya to make sure he stays hers. And introducing another female character at a moment like that of the story really makes readers believe that this is another girl that Mami and Ruka are gonna beat up Kazuya for, but instead, what we got was the exact opposite. Kazuya's and Sumi's "dates" weren't interrupted by neither Ruka nor Mami, making the chapters and parts of the story surrounding them nothing but a wholesome break from the rollercoaster of drama that is Kazuya's life. This characteristic about Sumi and Kazuya's relationship becomes clearer when further down in the manga, Kazuya seeks advice from Sumi about certain things.

Overall, I would honestly say that this is a good manga to read for overall enjoyment.

Kanojo, Okarishimasu review
Chapter 73 here.
Well for starters before chapter 20-30 my rating for this was more or less 8 or 9 but due to stretched out series (I can see how author is trying to stretch this series...bad move buster)

Story:6
At the start it was good it made me my emotions go haywire and overall interested in development.
But at some point i saw this line of rubber bend that started to stretch cliched moments sluggish movement and most of all 0 progress from chapter 5 (exaggerating a bit since MC had some minuscule progress with his life)

Art:8
Art is good, characters drawings are likeable, background is also not a cheapo and in some cases is very good, though you can see that author tries to put it in shots of blank background but noticing it is hard when you are engulfed in story.

Character:5
Well at the very start it was fine and dandy you can see some progress (talking about MC's) but then you start to see stagnation like 2 steps forward 1 back, 2 forward 2 back. Supporting characters are dumb but they seem to have been maturing way faster than main cast though cringy moments still stand. In a few last chapters i finally saw some character progression but due to lack of progression and utter borderline retardness i started to dislike main cast (Over last few chapters I finally started to like MC since he finally had some courage to do some steps)

eNjoYmeNt:3
Well how the f can i enjoy the series when I try to empathize with the story but always stumble upon my thinking process like:c'mon i can think of over 100 ways to get out of this situation to retain my dignity or somewhere along those lines. What i was meaning to say it's hard to enjoy when you have to stumble upon stupidity which in effect throws you out of the "zone" I cannot immerse myself because i am always thrown out by idiocy.
Also there are is light NTR moments (from MC boy) AND I CAN SAY WITH CONFIDENCE THERE WILL BE NTR FROM MC GIRL FOR SURE IN FUTURE. <---Reference for people who read until 73 chapter be ready for NTR FROM HER

Overall:6
6 only because it is shounen and stupidity and shounen are like synonyms. I will still continue to read but i lost enjoyment from reading this pile of rubbish. All in all i would advice you to read it but only if you are ok with stupidity, light NTR and 0 progress in romance from chapter 1 until chapter 73.

SPOILER ALERT:
MC IS A DUMB F&^ who got 1 million yen and spends his money for renting this specific girl after sometime passes he was becoming short on cash since well he has 0 financial literacy and 0 self dignity so he starts working part time. THIS SPECIFIC RENTED GIRL Is either unbelievably stupid or a master manipulator who sucks our MC financially dry and hey not like MC doesn't have other girls who are willing to commit to serious relationships with him. Also there is a major part of lies it seems that whole series are consisted of lies when there could be 0 if only there was a tincy bit of intelligence but heck no let's lie. This girl isn't a gold digger here but i were to look at this situation in IRL she would be 100% gold digger since MC's behavior and statements have become clear as polished diamond but this girl still plays a girl in denial or disinterest (friendzone BOY)

Thanks for reading! First review and not the last this series made me do something that i was lazy to do for a long time, making a review in order to caution people about this sort of shit.

Kanojo, Okarishimasu review
Slightly Ecchi/ Rental Girlfriend(s)/ RomCom

Having read through 25 chapters of this manga, I think you should give this manga a shot.
(*After a year, this manga is still pretty decent, and the Mangaka is actually a genius in his own way.)

After reading the reviews on this page so far, I STRONGLY DISAGREE with the fact that you should reject this manga with first five chapters. In fact, readers should decide after reading the first SIX chapters. (*still holds true)

!!Minor Spoiler!!
The reason why six chapters instead of five is because it is the first time that we can see why this particular main male character’s (Kinoshita Kazuya) is our main character.

Yes, in the beginning, Kazuya can be perceived as pathetic. But, having read so many volumes of manga. Each new manga always tries to develop its core characters in order to have a story to tell!! For this particular manga. The sixth chapter is the moment when you can make your judgment about Kazuya being “Real” pathetic or “Not really” pathetic. Know what? He will continue on to learn from his experience and man up ;)

Story: 8 -> *9
*It is a classical harem and the story is still going smoothly with the same amount of blushes~ Since it is a normal romance comedy, I decided to give it an 8 in the past. But, the term for “rental girlfriend” was first introduced to me through this manga back in the end of 2017. Thus, I want to give a +1 for the innovative story setup.

Art: 8 -> *10
The backgrounds are pretty basic due to school, street, restaurant settings (-3). But, the main female character is super cute (+1)

*Things has definitely changed between 70 chapters, backgrounds are becoming more and more detailed while more cute girls are popping off!! x) Thus, with a 10

Character: 8 -> *8
*My boy, Kazuya, is still growing up while knowingly or unknowingly creating a harem (as expected).
Kazuya's harem:
Chizuru -> main female MC
Ruka
Sumi

Side character:
Mami -> Kazuya’s ex

While reading through some chapter, some people are still commenting on how “pathetic” Kazuya is. From my standpoint, Kazuya’s actions are important and are supposed to happen in those ways because the mangaka was trying is to set up a potentially “real-life” ish character.
If you have seen youtube videos regarding topics why there are actually men renting out girls as “pseudo-girlfriends”, you will realize that most of those men’s characteristics are shy, unexpressive, and lack self-esteem in front of “real” girls in the most case. That is why they want to rent those girls to help them out.
Thus, if you are to look at Kazuya’s case, he seems to be those kinds of guys who seem to be intimidated or indecisive during events when he felt the relationship pressure (seemingly as if Mangaka set him up as a potential person who will actually use the rental girlfriend site in real life). Thats’ alright though, as Kazuya is actually improving, understanding what he wants, and knowing how he should act as the story progresses. Most importantly, he has the right characteristics such as being kind and gentleman-like to be a good MC.

The character setups are just as expected for a harem manga, that is why I give it a relative high score for fulfilling the category.(8)

Enjoyment: 9 ->*9.5
If a manga gives you laugh, this will be a 10; however, there are occasionally cringy moments (-1)

*Still clicking on every updates whenever I see one! I am getting more and more used to the “cringy” or “unexpected” moments hahaha (-0.5)

Overall: 8 -> *9
Maybe this manga is not a re-read material, but this manga brings joy and occasional good content for males only xD

*Personally, the statement of “not a re-read material” still holds true. Yet, the reason why the score increase to 9 is due to how this story is actually blows my mind if reflect from now. “Rental Girlfriend”, for me, was thought as a concept that only will appear in the story since I read is in the end of 2017; but now, after watching some videos regarding this topic around the mid or the end of last year, I am completely dumbfounded that a concept from the manga actually happens in real life~ It makes me read this manga in a slight different way.

*orig chapter 25 -> edit chapter 92

Kanojo, Okarishimasu review
Im writing this review for all the new people checking out the anime coming soon. Take note of this when you decide to see the anime, or decide to read the manga to see "progression".

Ok, the usual ratings for Mal are always really high, or really low. And this isn't just for Kanojo, Okarishmasu. I personally reside in between.

Story - 4
Gonna be honest, the story is not the best. Although I've not seen another manga with a premise about rental girlfriends, I've seen other with prostitutes or whatever(and that's like close enough lol). But the direction of the story is what is makes it rather bland. It gives off the normal romcom vibe, in which the story takes a long time to develop. And this is no different with this story. 133 chapters in and it's just beginning to show plot progression with the movie arc moving it forward. In the beginning everytime something happened it would just run back in a circle.

Art - 9
When it comes to romcom art, im usually not too picky. But art for this really stands out. The characters are very nicely drawn, the main character included. The background are drawn magnificently which I really like. In the more recent chapters I paid more attention to the art, I can safely say that theres always at least a page in each chapter that captures my eye. The characters usually have a highlight on them especially on more darker pages. I have no complaints here.

Character - 4
The characters are nothing unique. The main character is a pussy, still is a pussy(although he is gradually getting better). The best character for me is the main heroine. She has some sort of backstory and is the only one I care for in the story. Every other character are just thrown in there whenever they need screen time. The mc's Ex is basically non-existent at this point, and other characters are just put in for no reason. The main heroine is definitely the carry here.

Enjoyment - 7
I think this category is the most important out all of them. That's because you read manga for entertainment, much like a lot of other things you do. And at the end of the day, no matter how good the story or the characters are, if you don't enjoy it then it's not for you. Although the story may be lacking in more than one way, I can still find enjoyment in other ways.

Overall - 7
If you want an average romcom with good art. This is for you.

Kanojo, Okarishimasu review
Spoiler free and Anime watcher review!

I switched from the Anime to the Manga, so I started at chapter 50 as episode 12 leaves at 49. This manga is not superb. It is not trying to be something new, nor does it try to be a 10 star story. However, almost every chapter you will read fills you with joy and entertainment. You can't stop and have to read thee next one. This is addicting so no wonder even the anime alone reached a level where a second season was planned to produce.

Story: 8/10

the story is rather simple, a love story with two characters finding such throughout the development of their relationship. A bit after the anime ends a new arc starts which definitely progresses their relationship and hence the story to a welcomed route. One may say that the progression is going to slow but take in mind that you get a new chapter every week. And as someone hopping from the anime to the manga, you get over a 100 chapter to binge.

Art: 7/10

it's not the best art but as the Anime is very similar to the original source you can't go wrong with it. The author is indeed capable of more complex art by judging his other works but I wouldn't trade the art we get here for any other as it feels very natural to the story.

Characters: 7-9/10

this is a hard on because the main characters (Kazuya and Mizuhara) are designed very well. And even if the anime wasn't touching to much on them, they develop even more throughout the story (Kazuya more than Mizuhara up until now (ch159)). The trial girlfriend Ruka is rather seen as a burden to their relationship development. Sadly, as character Ruka has more downs than ups. Lastly, Sumi - another reental girlfriend - develops within the very short but impactful screentime very well and grows to be a good and helpful friend to Kazuya.

Enjoyment: 9/10

as I wrote in the introduction, you just can't stop reading chapter after chapter. When you liked the anime, this feeling will just grow when reading the manga.

Overall: 8/10

This manga does everything right within it's genre and most importantly it tries to get to the reader emotionally. It starts as a normal comedy like romance but the deeper you dig, the more layers you can find. It is also not trying to bee absurdly unrealistic but rather natural. Again, if you did not like the anime, you will not be pleased with the manga either. Reading other reviews here people hald hearthly compare it to shows like Domestic Kanojo but let me tell you that it does not try to be anything like that nor other shows within the harem genre. Moreover, Rental-girlfriend tries to be a relaxing refresher of the romance genre as a whole. All in all, I can not recommend this manga enough.

Kanojo, Okarishimasu review
I had never wrote a review here before, for a manga, decided to start with this one..

I've got to know this series after the anime became popular and as a romance fan (yeah, I love romance). I came to the manga, since I wanted to continue from where the anime had stopped, I read all chapters up to 110 (so far), and here is my review.

Kanojo, okarishimasu. Is a series with and full of potential, but this potential wasn't extracted nor used. I will explain, when the series start you have this whole situation which was complete new, unique (at least for me). It starts with a slow paced development, and that's what we also see on the anime, nothing really special, the story still carried with potential.

After chapter 40-50, we can observe how this series is ruining itself...For those readers who aren't familiar with romance genre, you might not get my point here... Romance is not drama, they might combine (like in snafu), but this isn't the case, this excessive, is way too much drama just to sell, no resolving.

This series present a very poor character development of tons and tons of chapters where nothing really develops. Okay many romance manga, take time to develop, yeah your right. However..most of them are high school students experiencing love, not a grown up adult who can't decide anything, this series had potential, the plot, the differential, but it was ruined, I'm dragging myself through the manga, it became predictable....

My overall would be lower, but I find the idea creative and original, and I enjoyed the art. Also please notice, my point is from a romance pov, some chapters are still fun and enjoyable, but my focus here is romance.

Kanojo, Okarishimasu review
Disclaimer: Please do not discard this series if you’re doing so because people have complained about the MC!!

Honestly, I was not expecting to like this series nearly as much as I did, and I was extremely skeptical about it (especially because it’s labeled “harem” when it’s very clear it’s a romcom,) but it blew my expectations out of the water.

Story: 8/10 The relationship between the 2 main characters progresses so naturally and it’s so realistic, which is a breath of fresh air for anime. They also both have very complementary personalities, and where one is stronger, the other is weaker. The story flows nicely and the plot is simple, but it’s still very well written and I enjoy waiting for new chapters each week!

Art: 9/10 One of the prettiest manga art styles I’ve seen in a while. It’s a very polished style, and I love how the shading makes everything feel like it’s shimmering!

Characters: 10/10 People will probably strongly disagree with me here, but in my opinion, the characters of this manga re what make it so great. Each one fits into a certain troupe, but goes so much further beyond that. They all have good motives and solid backstories that explain why they are how they are, and they all have extremely good development, especially the MC.

people view kazuya as a horrible Mc just because he’s a “cringy loser,” and this irritates me so much! Kazuya is actually very insightful and observant, and he may be awkward, but he’s not stupid. He’s very capable when he sets his sights on things, but you just won’t see that right away because he doesn’t have an end goal in sight. (And as he develops that changes.) He’s also very emotionally mature, and is good at consoling others and understanding his own feelings, which is what makes him so good for Chizuru, because she’s the complete opposite.

Overall, simple premise with a unique twist, and it’s definitely worth the read.

Kanojo, Okarishimasu review
No spoilers;

Paolo from Tokyo's Day in the Life of a Mangaka video brought me here. My expectations were initially somewhat high, since the artists seemed to take professional pride in their work.

After glancing at a few reviews here, my expectations were tempered. Annoying shonen main character. Bland, overused harem tropes.

So is Rent-A-Girlfried true art, or is it a mishmash of shonen tropes thrown into the Vita-Mix?

Having read up to about 80 chapters, I can say that Kanojo, Okarishimasu is very... ok. It's fine.

Let's start with the bad news. The main character seems to suffer from some sort of learning disability or pathology, making reading a frustrating experience at times. The story is straightforward riff on the harem genre. Very few tropes go unused, and there is an excess of ecchi and masturbation scenes (though arguably that's a not a bad thing).

The good news: Although lacking a subversive edge, the manga's spin on the harem genre is actually pretty interesting if you allow it to be. The character of a rental girlfriend has tons of potential to be an interesting meditation on authenticity, compartmentalization, and the nature of one's true self.

Sadly, these themes are only explored in one character: Mizuhara, the original rental girlfriend (and the only girl in the manga who isn't crazy, evil, or suffering from a personality disorder). She's a rare instance of AWWC (Actually Well Written Character) in shonen manga. The portrayal of her character is actually very compelling.

Rental girlfriends, in theory, fulfill a very important niche in the life of alienated young men: companionship. A rental girlfriend can satisfy that need while explicitly setting boundaries and expectations. Sure, you lack the personal growth that comes with navigating real relationships, but is the rental girlfriend setup really so weird? Aren't all relationships slowly being swallowed by the simulacrum anyways? We're going to be living in virtual reality pods soon anyways; is there really anything so degenerate about renting a hot girl for a few hours?

UPDATE AFTER READING UP TO CH 149: IT GETS BETTER???

Kanojo, Okarishimasu review
In short: It's a romcom that feels realistic in a way. It can make you laugh and giggle at times, but what it truly excels at is drawing you in with its characters, and in the later chapters, pulling on your heartstrings. I highly recommend it.

Srory 9/10
The manga starts off okay, albeit quite frustrating due to the MC's shallow nature. Its only saving grace was the heroine, Chizuru, and her interesting personality. But then it took the boring "everything's built on a lie" turn and I really considered dropping it. But I kept reading, and I'm truly glad I did.
Every chapter is satisfying because it pushes the story forward, never taking a step backwards unlike some romcoms. The plot, while dramatical, feels somewhat realistic, it's something that could happen to someone in college, with minimal exaggerations(except the coincidences that's its own thing).
In the later chapters (vol7 onwards) things get more serious, and there are parts that really pull on your heartstrings and give you the feels.

I can't say too much without spoiling, but I find it similar to an "Omakase": it's a slow but very enjoyable experience, with every course satisfying you to the fullest, and getting better and better.

Art 7/10
Honestly the art is standard, but when the artist wants to make a scene that hits hard, oh boy it hits harder than truck-kun hits isekai protagonists. Those scenes are so detailed, every stroke placed strategically to paint a beautiful picture.

Characters 8/10
As mentioned before, the MC starts off as very unpleasant. As the story progresses however, he is shown to be a kind and genuine person, and an all-round likeable protagonist. The main heroine is by far the best part of the story, her personality opens up as the story progresses, and you'll find yourself wanting to know more about her as you read on. New characters always bring something new to the table, with strong, distinct personalities that make them standout in their own way. The manga does however, completely forgets about some characters for several volumes, which is quite a waste.

Enjoyment 10/10
Personally I REALLY enjoyed this manga, mainly because of its always-progressing story, and its characters and their banter. The story pulls you along and before you know it, you'll have reached the 10th volume.

Overall 9/10
Overall it's a great manga that, in my opinion, is very underrated. Admittedly it isn't for everyone, and it starts off pretty weak, but if you give it time and keep reading, I really do believe you'll like it as much as I do. Worst case scenario is that you'll have wasted some time on a manga that isn't for you, but the best case is that you'll keep reading and really enjoy it, so I'd say you should definitely give it a shot.
