ReLIFE review
I've been recently developing a jealousy toward the Slice of Life genre. These days it feels like the only kind of manga/anime that can ever get a positive consensus anymore are super subdued, comfortably paced, character driven emotional dramas or comedies which have easily relatable characters and also touch on real life social and emotional issues. But on the other side of the coin, it's still a genre with a lot of great titles under it and this manga is one of them.

Story- 8/10: This is your standard highschool-based slice of life with a twist, twist being the adult main character. But unlike doing something cosmetic like making one of the main characters deaf (Koe no Katachi) or a penguin caricature (Oyasumi Punpun), the twist here actually substantially changes how the setting is looked upon, and in a way that adults can enjoy arguably more than teenagers (since the MC is an adult).

However, like in Koe no Katachi, any scene where the twist of premise is not utilized makes the story feel like a copy paste Slice of Life. Granted, having a truly original story is next to impossible these days. But since a bog standard Slice of Life is literally just REAL life, I find that a problem since I personally don't read things for a real life-type experience.

In all honesty though, when the characters who are secretly adults get to interact with the normal teens, it's a very interesting read. Fortunately, that at least DOES happen a majority of the time.

The only other real complaint is some beating around the bush at the end, but if you can get through Prison School's cavalry arc, then this is nothing.

Art- 7/10: This is the first and only manga I have read entirely in full color. And THANK GOODNESS it was in full color because that's the whole saving grace of it. The characters are really flat, bland, and inexpressive, BUT...

...the BACKGROUNDS are where the expressiveness comes in. Well, not the backgrounds as in, the school or the town. I mean the backgrounds as in, the mysterious void that the manga panels float in. That... place?... changes color and texture in response to stuff happening, which easily offsets how boring the people look. Granted, I think the abstract art of Oyasumi Punpun does a better job at having "expressive backgrounds", but the presentation here is good enough.

Characters- 9/10: Since it's a Slice of Life, the characters are the driving force. The most interesting people are obviously the adults who are pretending to be teenagers (I'm using plural because the MC has ReLIFE employees alongside him during this whole thing). Buuuuuut as I said before everyone else is, well, normal.

If you're no stranger to the genre, you can probably guess what direction each and every character arc goes in. But their arcs are represented well in the background art I mentioned earlier.

Overall- 9/10: This is a solid Slice of Life manga, that's all there is to it. I'd easily recommend other Slices of Life such as Mahoutsukai no Yome and Uchuu Kyoudai (well just those two really) over this one. But ReLIFE ain't bad for what it is.

ReLIFE review
What a wonderful story. Even after weeks of completing it, I look for stories similar to reLife.

Overall, my main gripe about this series is this series belongs to rena and ohga as much as it belongs to kaizaki and hishiron. Not much development is given to others beyond the four (and the supervisors).

Second thing is, the ending is a cop out. The explanation given honestly doesn’t make a lot of sense, and a lot of mystery surrounding the reLife organisation is dispelled. Ending is extremely predictable such that people were guessing accurately halfway through the manga.

Even with the above points, this is one of the most immensely happy mangas. I ‘accidentally’ read the end when I was at chapter ~150 and I was ready to just drop the manga. But when I returned to my chapter I couldn’t stop reading. This is the addictiveness of the manga that caused me to finish the manga even during exams week.

In some ways, reLife is akin to a shoujo manga. It has similar settings and tropes, but adds its own spin. Please don’t be daunted by the amount of chapters. It’s true that most events are drawn out, but the beginning chapters has little pages and you will not feel bored during the manga.

Lastly, I would like to draw attention to the structure. The manga was originally a webcomic (if I am not mistaken?) and is meant to be read in a vertical scrolling fashion. Whiteout scans has been translating this series from start to finish, has a manga reader on their website. So please try to enjoy this manga in its original form!

ReLife is worth it if you want a manga that’s long enough to get you invested, and rewards you with appropriate payoff.

ReLIFE review
First of all I'm sorry for my english. I'm no native speaker but I will try my best.

Wow it has been 222 chapters and now ReLIFE is coming to an end.
I remember the first time I saw the Anime and I was completely hooked by it and I needed to know how the hell is this going to continue. And well approximately 120 Chapters into the show- to be more specific, until the end - I think I can say that this Manga was quiet grate and I'm really looking forwards to the OVA coming in 10 days.

But let's get into the detail.

The Story was very good and I really loved the idea behind the so-called ReLIFE. I had my thoughts about the concept while reading it and was thinking about, how it would be to have ReLIFE in the actual world. I thought it would definitely help people to get back into Life and restart everything for one year.
The course of the plot was good and I could understand the ideas behind the direction perfectly. There was just one problem. Sometimes the plot was too predictable, but that isn't really a problem. In fact I liked the way how it slowly came to an end and all characters somehow have their own ending.
Another "bad" point is the fact that it's indeed not that deep. Sure there are the questions about the moral of ReLIFE but that's it. But what compensates that, is the fact that the Manga could make me feel really sad the nearer the end came. I just couldn't believe that the manga is going to end soon. But hey at least I really loved the ending of the show. It couldn't possibly be much better and i think with the right soundtrack in the anime adaption I definitely am going to cry about the story end.

The characters definitely were the best in ReLIFE. Without a doubt, I really loved every single character and liked the way how they got integrated into the story. While Yoake is permanently making fun of his subject Arata and also making me laugh sometimes, characters like Arata or Ooga really showed some sides of my own and I thought a lot about how I should live my life to the fullest.

So in the end I recommend ReLIFE to everyone who are searching for a good slice of life, with little romance aspects as well as the What-would-I-do-situations. Also if you are searching for a comedy you should read ReLIFE because the artstyle in combination with the flat humor is really really good. Especially jokes around yoake, onoya, Kaizaki and Oga as well as the social problems of Hishiro are really funny and I definitely enjoyed reading the Manga.

ReLIFE review
I made an account just so I could write a review for this manga. Anyways, on to the review (tl;dr at the end)!

Story- The story is by far one of the best that I've read from a genre like this. That being said this is set in a school setting so there are definitely some chapters that are here, that are always found in the school or slice-of-life settings. This doesn't bother me too much as they usually put a fresh and new take on these episodes. I think the highlight of the story is that unlike other romance/school/slice-of-life stories that I've read in the past, this one doesn't use the on-again/off-again routine that at this point annoys me. What I mean by this is that the manga doesn't keep making and breaking the couples or putting them through weird or odd "tests". An example of this would be a scene where the gf sees bf with a girl, assumes he's cheating or vice-versa, they break-up, something happens, they make up. While this does add drama, it's just repetitive and overplayed at this point.

Art- The art was great. From its layout to the actual art-style, it screams webtoon (which isn't bad). I think this was a great format to use as it added colour and other effects to the manga that otherwise just isn't really possible with traditional manga. This helps you immerse yourself easily into the story.

Character- While for action manga you have the amazing fights, or for comedy you have the hilarious situations and jokes, ReLIFE is a story about its characters. There is no cool action sequence, and while there are jokes, it's usually due to the character's trait or action. On top of that, you really get to see all of the character's (main and side) develop nicely, and in a realistic manner, adding more realism to the story.

Enjoyment/Overall- What can I say? I thoroughly enjoyed this story and in my opinion this was one of the best school/romance/slice-of-life manga that I've read. It's a feel-good story with a bit of heart-wrenching moments mixed in perfectly.

tl;dr- Great story, nice art-style, and amazing characters. Highly recommend

ReLIFE review
Starting reading ReLife yesterday, read through it in one go. Loved it from the first page to the last. The guy we are introduced to in the beginning made me empathise. I could relate to him and his dreams of a happy middle class life. I felt excited how his life would turn out. The ReLife was a Deux Ex machina, but not really, since it is the very premise of the book.

This is a story of highschool romance, of the hardships of adjusting to adult life, of friendship and of second chances in life. It is a slice of life.

Story:
Using ReLife capsule, a person can get the appearance of a highschool kid and attend one. The ReLife organisation helps NEETs to relive their highschool and adjust better as adults.
Soon the story becomes your everyday school romance- love stories, breakups, bullying (little bit), new friendships, etc
It did not bore me because I had fallen in love with these characters.
The ending is beautiful too. The journey is equally good.

Art:
The art is easy on the eyes. Sometimes the backgrounds are even kept white. But it suits the style of the story. There is no ecchi or harem. I like that because it helps me focus on the story.

Characters:
I loved the main characters as well as the supporting characters. There are no evil plotters in this story. The fears are the demons inside. We see these guys fight their inner fears and overcome them, sometimes on their own but mostly via their friends' help. In one word- memorable characters.

Enjoyment:
As much as I love this manga I know it is not revolutionary in either story, art or execution. But it gets full points for enjoyment. It keeps the reader engaged throughout.
At one point I wanted to see the main characters, but the story kept focusing on silly things in others characters' lives. I read through that part quite fast.

Overall: (9/10)

Must-Read. It is a fun read. The chapters are really short and fast paced. Read it for a Slice Of Life.
Don't expect any evil vs good action fights or blood and gore.

Thanks for reading!

ReLIFE review
Undoubtedly the best back-to-school types of manga I've read so far. The story starts off with our main character at the age of around 30 (27) and is unemployed. At this time of age, people are usually out of their half baby- half adult stage and begin to become acceptance to or against reality.

Plot and character wise,
The story has a plot that starts up slow but is able to ease the viewers into a suspenseful friendship heavy plot line; in which, the characters not only discover themselves but also what is important around them. Overall, it teachers the target audience (I assume those around my age - highschoolers) to appreciate what youth and young love is left within them.
The 2 main characters, in complete contrast with each other as if to show juxtaposition of different ways of life in school and its pros and cons. Smart, school centered, and with no friends, Chizuru has always been focused in school and that makes her life somewhat miserable. We see that because of this, majority of those who follow her path IRL, lose the ability to socialize normally.
Reliving his life, Arata becomes a carefree man only to discovers and conquer his insecurities and overall becomes a better and more understanding person.
Basically, the plot was great and character development really is something else.

My personal feelings.
As a 17 years old, I feel that this series really speaks to me in a deep level. The reoccurring theme of regret has played a major role in my feelings in the story. Regretting not confessing to that person, regretting not taking the next step, and most of all regretting not enjoying your youth and high school years like everyone else. It has taught me to be able to look further than seeing school as a torture chamber but rather a machine of memory creation. All the friends to make, all the memories to create, and all the things to learn both socially and educationally. And for those older, it is a good way to reminiscence those school years you've left behind. Good memories.

ReLIFE review
I think pretty much everyone has secretly fantasized about going back and redoing their youth again to take advantage of all their missed opportunities. I'm rather surprised there aren't more manga that deal with the fantasy. The approach taken here is not exactly what you'd think though. It's distinctive because of the very deliberate nature of it. Kaizaki intentionally takes the pill that makes him look (not actually become) 17 and signs up for the program designed to deNEETify him through a return to the optimistic energy of youth. Also deliberate is the time limit of one year: after his year has passed he must return to his adult life where he'll be set up with a job and a chance to reclaim his lost future. All records of his time at school will be erased as will the memories of him among the other students.

I'm of two minds about this as an approach. On the one hand the deliberate nature removes the need for a lot of the confusion about why this is happening (leaving plenty of room for confusion over high school life) and the need for exposition clarifying why he feels obliged to continue acting a high schooler and keep the secret from his friends. The fact that it's not actually youthenizing him also means that there's room for some conflict with the fact that he's not as fit as all the other kids (though really, at older than 27 I might not have the stamina of a teenager but I can still sprint without pulling a muscle) and with all the changes to school life in the decade since he left. And of course the irregular but dangerous moments where his secret maturity seems sure to come out.

On the other hand... aren't the rules here rather arbitrary and absurd? I know that the whole concept is impossible, but making the youthenizing process so mundane as a pill seems even worse than just having it pure magic. It's a lot easier to accept that a wizard did it than that a virus somehow removes all knowledge of someone and can alter pictures. The policies adopted are even more absurd. When it becomes clear that a second test subject has been introduced to the school they make clear that revealing their status to each other would result in mutual memory erasure and ejection. I mean, what possible purpose could that serve? Isn't that sort of connection exactly what they should be encouraging? As indeed they do constantly in amusing ways. And if the goal is to make people care again then why the memory erasure? That seems to completely make any emotional growth meaningless since you know none of your new friends will even remember you. And the fear that this might leave an unbreachable gap in their life is very real, which conflicts with the fact that they want to cure him of a desire to isolate himself to prevent others' suffering. The rules make no sense.

Fortunately, the series is very well written and has a cast of excellent characters. They all fall somewhere on the extremes of academic/social skills. Kaizaki is the most emotionally intellegent guy and also the most utterly incompetent student. Kazu and Hishiro fall at the opposite end of this spectrum, intellectually brilliant but not able to take a hint if you printed it in big letters on your forehead. Everyone else fits somewhere in the middle, with only Kariu having a healthy mix of both. The concerns are mainly those of love (particularly getting the emotional doofuses to recognize their own feelings) and friendship. Typical high school drama fare, but well told and with characters so lovable together that you really root for them. And Kaizaki's (and occasionally his handlers') outrageously brazen matchmaking faces are very funny. The average story arc is very long and takes forever to get to the point, but it doesn't feel padded so much as deliberate. But expect to work though a lot to get to the conclusion of the main arcs.

I relate to this series very deeply on an emotional level. Obviously I never took a de-aging drug and went back to high school, but I did the next closest thing and restarted college in a new degree program where I was 4-6 years older than everyone else. And it was super weird. The insecure awareness that you're several years more experienced than everyone else never really goes away nor does the mistaken belief that you're bound to know more about life than your juniors. In fact it can get worse. By the time I was a 28-year-old PhD student I felt like a creepy old man for hanging out with fresh-out-of-high-school kids in the club I helped run and had to withdraw from all activities. And I've felt the rest of it as well. As an exchange student the knowledge that you only have a year to make friends and then leave them behind forever is always there, a constant awareness that the best year of your life is passing by. It hurts, but only a fool would avoid making the most of their opportunity just so the pain wouldn't be as bad. It's a feeling that's hard to describe but there's probably a snappy German word for it like heiterschmerz.

Anyway, my personal background means that I enjoyed this very much indeed. The inevitable separation in the ending is emotionally crushing as you might expect, and I felt that the arbitrary tragedy of the setting seemed a little forced, but on the whole I cared about the characters and their stories. You just kinda wish they could forget this whole returning to his adult life thing and keep on growing as a high schooler. But the bittersweet setting is the whole basis of the plot, and you get through 215 chapters of sweetness before the end is reached for good so happiness far outweighs the sadness. A good series for anyone who's ever pondered the question of what it would be like if they could do it all over again.

ReLIFE review
So, I'll say this is that I haven't really done reviews much. Mostly because I enjoy a series or manga and move on.

But for some reason this manga just tugged on my heart a few times more then other manga. It's a laugh, enjoying, tearful, and romantic. The struggles of the characters as well the progression of how they go through their daily life when in high school. Was good and enjoying.

The emotions the main character went through while he was going through the ReLife experiment was funny as hell. Just small things made me laugh and think to myself. "I would do that as well if I had this same experience." When it comes to the story, it's a pleasant series based around high school. (Oh my another series like that!? It's not like we have hundreds of manga based on/around high school.) Ya ya. But anyways, it's refreshing in a way. It's strange really, I can't really describe it much other then tell you to read it.

The art is pleasant to the eye. The characters within the entire manga is funny, each one having the perfect personality to them in my opinion, others could say otherwise but let them.

Through and through, I enjoyed this series greatly and I'm kinda sad that it ended. If I had a chance to talk to the one writing/drawing ReLife, I would simply request if they make a side series or a second chapter of after the ReLife Experiment or even continue onwards with the series. I don't know.. just feel like I want more. :P

Rating for this, being my favorite manga and most likely be my favorite for a long time. A solid 10/10.

ReLIFE review
We always want to go back and change the errors we did although it was never possible in reality. So what if it did? What if we could go back and change up a few things? What has happened has happened but that doesn't stop you from making yourself look young and going to a high school doesn't it? This is my review of the excellent ReLIFE.

It's slow moving and sometimes stagnant plot made for an interesting change I hadn't previously experienced so well while reading a manga. ReLIFE was long but sweet. What I really liked was the large cast and the subplots given to almost all of them. Yes, perhaps ALL of the characters got their screentime (or should I say pagetime?) equally and each and every character had an interesting story to tell. ReLIFE isn't your average RomCom. It's far beyond that. The fact that Kaizaki had only one love candidate made it much better than the love triangles and the harems which plague our beloved medium. Now most aren't bad, but people have a habit of liking something that isn't all too much common and I'm one of them. Another part I loved was the characters themselves.

Male (Shounen) characters are almost always flawed in many ways because the author makes us look at the characters through their eyes, and in doing so they eradicate all unique points of the characters themselves. ReLIFE takes a different approach. It gave Kaizaki a character. His own proper backstory and not a run-of-the-mill cliched one. As for Hishiro, her backstory wasn't much explored but her history with some of the characters was very crucial in setting the final arc and the eventual end of the manga and so I won't be delving deeper than that. Now for the other characters, Yoake was basically the hilarious face of ReLIFE. The way how he knew and exploited Kaizaki's weakness left me with a huge stomachache due to laughter. An was the direct, cheerful and upfront character and watching her was a lot of fun too.

One thing I didn't like much was the unnecessary extra focus on Kariu and Ooga. It felt like it took up too many chapters especially since they didn't get just one arc of focus, the arcs themselves felt too long and I felt those chapters could have been put to better use to either improve Arata x Hishiro or more importantly focus on other characters like Tamarai who unfortunately got the backseat for almost the whole train ride, literally. Thankfully this was a webtoon so the art had color in it. Why am I so happy after seeing color? It's because it's so rare to read manga that are colored. Apart from being my first color Manga, ReLIFE also looked stunning in almost every aspect. It had a clarity and charm no other manga captured when portraying it's characters, maybe Nisekoi can manage to be second since it's character designs were amazing too. The backgrounds as well is something I'd love to point out because in many manga the backgrounds either don't exist or are given very less focus. Once again, ReLIFE went a different route, it made some of the best manga backgrounds I've ever seen, and I know that they're not a crucial part of the story at all but I have to give credit where it's due, especially since very few other manga do that.

At first I never thought I'd come to love ReLIFE so much as I do today. It was slow, easy-going and long. Three things which I adore and hunt for in manga. If I have these, apart from Romance and Comedy, I almost always give it a 9 or a 10. ReLIFE was a 10 for me in my ratings, and I couldn't give it any lower. Why? It not only was different from the usual mangas out there, it excelled in it's own route as well, something even fewer manga accomplish. There are many reasons as to why I would recommend ReLIFE to you. An adorable Romance, adorable characters, COLOR, sweet comedy, easy-going plot, long-running chapters (220+ chapters) among many others. Give ReLIFE a try, because it's definitely worth it. You won't see anything like it again. It's just that fun and unique. The ending as well was one of the best endings I've ever seen or read in a manga or anime, so if you do decide to read till the end, you're gonna love that ending. I won't spoil it, but again, YOU WILL LOVE IT.

ReLIFE review
I'm not sure what I expected out of this manga, but it definitely wasn't something as introspective, compelling, and well-written as this. I very rarely rate anything a 10, but I felt like this manga definitely merited that score.

-Story: The concept itself wasn't too original. There are a good many other manga/anime where the characters "turn back time" to have fun or fix past mistakes. However, the execution of that storyline was very well done in ReLIFE. The pacing was great and the story was nicely fleshed out. You do have to suspend disbelief for how the whole "relife" process happens in order to really enjoy the story. If you start to think too much about how it happens, especially how the memory loss is supposed to happen afterwards, you'll find yourself thinking "wait....what?" If that sort of unrealistic plot device is something that bothers you, then you may not enjoy this manga nearly as much as I did. That being said, it didn't bother me because this story isn't really about the mechanics of the ReLIFE process, it is about character growth and relationships. And, that is where is manga really excelled....

-Characters: So many well-developed characters. The story starts out from a male perspective, but by the middle it is equally split between the male and female perspective. Not only are the main characters well-written, but the supporting characters are also fully fleshed out. With the story set in high school, I wasn't really sure what the tone would be like, and how it would compare to other school life manga. While there was definitely a strong comedic aspect to the story, and it did put the characters in a lot of the standard high school scenarios (cultural festival, exams, ferris wheel, etc), the focus was the regrets, restrospection, and growth of the older characters. The MCs are 28/29, and as someone similar in age, I found them to be very relatable. The issues and regrets that they experienced inspired a lot of introspection in myself as well while I was reading. The characters and their struggles made me feel very emotionally attached to them, and a large part of the story was very bittersweet. I felt that the growth of the characters happened at a very realistic pace, and was the most enjoyable part of the story.

-Art: The art was enjoyable - if you have read other webtoons, it will feel very familiar. Reading a webtoon, to me, often feels very similar to looking at stills from an anime. If you haven't, it may take a little while to adjust to the long strip format. That being said, I've personally come to prefer that format over time, because it frees up the artist to be more creative in how the scenes are laid out (and I've been spoiled by the full color aspect). If you like this manga, I highly recommend that you search out other webtoons to read - there are a lot of really high quality ones out there, and MAL omits most of them from its database, unfortunately. My only complaint about the art is how the author portrays the difference between the characters in their teenage vs adult forms - to me, their appearance (especially in the face) was too similar.

ReLIFE review
My thoughts: Sort of a tl;dr before the review.

Interesting story with great lovable characters. Drama isn't listed under a genre of the story, but the story has lite drama. The overall story is very lighthearted. The manga is in full color and characters look great, but background detail is sacrificed for this. A very enjoyable manga for all audiences. Pacing feels a little slow, but weekly chapters help to make the overall manga feel like it progresses a little faster. Romance is more developed later in the manga around chapter 60 and later.

Story[10/10] The story progresses somewhat slowly, but the amount of detail that it goes into is what really makes this manga. It's about a 27 year old NEET who gets a pill that lets makes his appearance go back to being 17 again, and it able to redo his Senior year in high school. It is not listed, but there is some light drama in this, and they romance is not quite prevalent until later in the manga, around chapter 60+ and later.

Art[9/10] The manga is in full color which is both good and bad. Giving color looks better and helps you to recognize characters, but the quality of the backgrounds is weak. That being said the characters still look great.
** One thing I have to say, is that the manga is not formatted in pages. Each chapter is read from the top of the page all the way to the bottom. This means if you read it in a page format (like a regular manga/book) the art may end up looking really weird from page to page where the art may have been cut off.

Characters[10/10] Most characters have had some great development so far in the manga. Only one of the main characters is still somewhat unknown. You will love every character. There are no characters that are unlikable, although some are somewhat generic such as one of the main characters being dense, but nowadays any story is going to have what we call "a somewhat generic character" but that will not stop you from loving them.

Enjoyment[10/10] I find this manga enjoyable for many reasons. The full color manga is very refreshing when you typically only see black and white. The story of a person who gets to redo their senior year in high school is very interesting, especially for those of us who wish we could go back to when we were young. Very likable well developed characters.

I will do my best to update as I continue to read. Hope this review helped to clear things up!
